Ben Stokes named England Captain

If you want to watch some ridiculous cricket watch this live stream.

Ben Stokes has gone crazy. Just missed out on 150 (yes, one hundred and fifty) before lunch in a Championship game. Durham's record for sixes in a SEASON is 16, he has hit 15 (yes, fifteen) in the first two hours of play. It could be interesting to watch after the break providing they don't declare...

Ben stokes is a fantastic cricket. People rave about Flintoff being an amazing all-rounder for England and on this day he was, but his stats were something like 32 average with the ball and 28 with the bat whereas stokes has 36 with bat and not sure on bowling average without looking it up. Hopefully he can continue these figures as it's tough being an all rounder playing in all 3 formats for England and being test captain.

A very interesting appointment this. Little bit outside the box as assumed it was Gary Kirsten’s if he wanted it but I quite like it. If he does half as good a job as he did as NZ captain I reckon England are on to a winner. Think him and Stokes will work quite nicely with each other too.

I'm personally delighted with Brendan McCullum's appointment as coach to the Test squad.  I've always liked the way he played his cricket, conducted himself and was a positive force in both Test matches and the shorter format of the game.

Having said all that, his only coaching experience so far, has been in the IPL and Twenty-20 format.  Let's hope that Brendan can instill a greater sense of purpose, enjoyment and positive performance from our Test lads, we badly need some excitement and better results this summer!

Not sure this is  exactly the "brave new dawn" we expected under McCullum and Stokes.

Can't see what more Matt Parkinson has to do to get in the squad. I think we may have selected the wrong Overton brother (Jamie offers the express pace missing in the side) and there's a yawning gap at number three where someone is going to have to play in a new position at Test level. Why no specialist number three?

I guess they didn't want to have too many new faces in the squad and some continuity but I think we have gaps in some areas (competition for spots 1-3, spin options) and more options that we need in others (mid-order batsman and fast-medium bowlers)

England are at rock bottom at test level so for me they could have picked about 8 new players and if have been happy instead of trying the same ones who are better one day players, or generally not good enough. Leach trys his best but he's not as good as Parkinson. Parkinson can spin the ball a fair bit but he's wasted by not playing him. Overton has probably been selected due to him being able bat abit but he won't take wickets. We will struggle take the 20 wickets to win a match with that squad and we all know that the batting is really weak too.

First look at the Ben Stokes era and it’s going pretty well. Best thing is we are holding on to our catches for a change, that is a big help.

Anderson and Broad showing how dumb it was to leave them out of the West Indies tour. Potts looks a cracking bowler. Bowling some beauties, not bad for a debut.

Batting Oli Pope at 3 hasn't worked so far. I personally wouldn't even have him in the team let alone batting at 3. Lees isn't going go on to make big scores keeps getting 20 to 30 then getting out. The only positive from this test so far is Potts has had a excellent test match.
