What is all the hype about Pett and Gibbo for? Some on here have lambasted Jake Taylor for " not being up to it" after his extended injury break. How can you therefore expect Pett or Gibbo to be totally fit and up to speed after their injuries?
To be honest, I think some people have a selective memory over Jake Taylor. It's funny how when he has been out of the team he is seen as the new messiah. All I can recall is that he had a purple patch a couple of seasons ago but then went to a declining Scunthorpe and couldn't get in their team.

He has got some ability but I'm convinced he's too lightweight to be a good league player and if Pett or Walker are fit for the last 3 games then I suspect he'll be back on the bench.

Because there's quite a jump from Pett being out for 3 weeks and Gibbo 6-7 to Taylor having only played 1 league minute since November when he came on at Hartlepool.

We need fully fit squad players to gel into the system, rather than rely on those that clearly are better players, but are not up to full blown competitive matches. The likes of for example  the 2 young loanee know already what is expected and have served us magnificently. At this stage of the season we simply cannot expect Pett or Gibbo to be the missing links. Too much is on their shoulders after long lay offs.

I'm not lauding or running Jake down. I'm simply saying anyone after long time out injured cannot be relied upon for our last 3 games to be our saving guardians.

After there Darrells at the wheel in the home fixture where we were putting in our worst performance of the season to date .

There support were brilliant that day helped by winning but I'm sure the SVA can encourage Vale to the rafters sat and get us a positive result a draw minimum but 3 points are needed after standards slipped v Rovers .

I thought walsalls support at the vale game was abysmal. Not once did they sing any songs in support of there team. All they did is abuse Daryl Clarke by singing songs calling him a peedo and dog shagger. As far as I'm concerned every Walsall fan who attended that game should have been given a life time ban from all football grounds for homophobic chanting.

I don't believe that tripe about Walsall playing a load of young lads or reserves. They will see there playing vale and pick the strongest team they have available. No doubt though this normal bottom of the half league 2 side will all of a sudden turn into the Brazil side from 1970 with Rodney being jairzinho and Zak mills being Carlos Alberto.

This is my concern too. Always seems to happen to us.

Jake Taylor was superb in the 2019/20 season keeping Conlon out of the team. He played so well (Read the comments on the then Jake Taylor Thread on OVF below) that Vale wanted to buy him but Forest wanted to have a good look at him for their 1st team squad. Forest took too long and Vale ended up with Whitehead and Taylor ended up at Scunny.

Taylor played 13 games for Scunny (perhaps that's where he picked up his muscle injury), they wished to buy him along with Vale and another club. In Jan 2021 he came to Vale but when DC came in he got relegated to the bench and didn't get much of a chance thereafter and had a recurrence of the injury.

This "Too lightweight" is a nonsense, fans forget the crunching tackle he put in against Hartlepool which stopped a breakaway and left the Pool player stricken on the ground and if anyone cares to look at the videos of the 2019/20 and more recent seasons you will see he gets "Stuck in" and competes as much as any Vale player and wins his share of tackles and balls although he ain't no Griff or Anthony Grant but neither is any player in Vale's current squad.

Taylor is not yet match fit, he said it himself during a post Brizzle interview and hence isn't yet the player of 2019/20. It's just the predicament he and Vale find themselves in with injuries.

If AC has any concerns over Taylor then move Charsley in front of the back 3 and play Taylor  on the "left" of the 3 central "midfield players" further forward, this is where he played so effectively under John Askey. Charsley must have played that position at sometime. IMO The big miss in midfield is Conlon.

Walsall and Newport are the most winnable games of the next 3 based on recent results so I would get on the front foot from the start, get in the lead and than shut up shop if needs be. I Hope AC doesn't play defenders in midfield from the start as there's a good chance it will disrupt Vale's rhythm and play.

I’m only going from our line up against Crawley last game. Mills started his 3rd game of the season and his first start under our new manager. He started Perry, menayese, kiernan who hardly kicked a ball since flynn come in. Rodney an absolute shocking signing. If he starts then we deffo ain’t trying to win the game. Our best 2 players Wilkinson Who’s  out for 12 months and kinsella who’s also out injured.
