Match Thread: Port Vale v Oldham Athletic

Bumper gate and noise to pay homage to Super Vale, make a promotion spot our own. If Oldham were watching at Salford they may not turn up.   Oldham’s recent win at Stevenage made it 2 wins on the trot after a poor run of results and with tough games to come are desperate for points. Likely to park the bus and hope for a break away.  However one game at a time, 3-0 will be fine.

6 pointers at Swindon v Newport and Tranmere v Bristle will improve our situation and a Vale win will keep promotion in our hands.

Need a win to cement our automatic credentials, and with teams around us playing each other that could prove to be important to put some breathing space between us and the chasing pack. Can’t wait for Saturday, it seems a long time since I’ve felt this positive about our squad and chances of getting a promotion.

Would love us to beat Oldham, these two to draw, and Bradford do us a big favour against Northampton.  Suppose its too much to hope Carlisle beat Exeter...??  And arent Scunthorpe die a win one day soon...?? 🤣

I'll be sat on the couch cheering the boys on!

Come on Vale!

Like everyone else,it's all positive from me

Someone always seems to score for us,we don't concede a lot, and the spirit, togetherness and competitiveness in the squad is clear to see.

We've put ourselves in a position where we have a good goal difference and points on the board.

23 points from the last 10 games.

On to the next one

They’re a proud club with relatively recent top flight experience. A lot of players and staff won’t want relegation out of the league on their C.V.
We need to be at 100% from the off, not like first half v Barrow where we were only 95%.

Get the attitude right, no bad luck and we should get an important win.

Attitude always more difficult in these games.

Treat every game like we are one win off automatic promotion, and one day soon we will be. Treat these like FGR away, and every other team until the end of the season. There's some mad fixtures coming up for potential ups and downs. We can't afford to switch off at all for the next 6 games. Remember when we thought Walsall at home was a banker? Don't give them a chance.

Fantastic atmosphere in the away end at Salford, much better than home games. Every stay away fan needs to turn up if they can, get the stadium rocking, it really makes a difference to the players. Get those retro shirts out and roar the boys onto 3 points. I like Oldham as a club, hope they win all their remaining games after Saturday of course. Hopefully a good away following should help create a cracking atmosphere. Not going to be much in it, an early goal for us would be much appreciated.

I think their approach has to be “park the bus “. They’ll try to match our intensity and may do so. The difference could be the likes of Hall (and Smith if he can) bombing into the last third which is near impossible to legislate for and creates those “all bets are off” chances.

They have actually pulled off some pretty crazy results throughout the season if you take a look, despite being down towards the bottom!

They drew 5-5 with Forest Green, 3 each away at Newport & beat Bristol Rovers in Feb. On their day clearly a match for anybody. Won their last two as well. Fighting for their lives.

We need to be at it from minute 1 & match the atmosphere in the stands from the Sutton game. A win would be another massive step! Will be a tougher game than many think.

A covered terrace behind the goal is always the best for atmosphere.

A win for us (any score will do) and a couple of draws in the Swindon and Tranmere 6-pointer fixtures will do nicely!
