When they are talking contracts one of the first in has to be Stone, still young but has 100% made the number one spot his own

Him and Proctor i think were one year deals.

Benning will be a very interesting one, he was clearly frustrated and miffed at barely playing. His form has been excellent, the Benning we expected, but given we pushed the boat, the ocean liner and supertanker out to get Hussey he may well be released?

But Stone now has cemented his place, i never felt he did anything wrong anyway to warrant the Holy signing but has now proved that tenfold.

Am i being a tad unfair calling him a lesser version of Dean Glover. Another cultured unruffled defender like Hall.

I was saying this about Dan Jones at the start of the season, that same sense that he has more time than other defenders, liked to take the ball down on his chest and clip a pass forward where most CBs would just head it out, plus the fact he could look a bit too casual occasionally!

Hall reminds me a lot of how Chris Basham was used by Wilder at Sheff Utd, looks just like a big strong CB, but has plenty of quality, happy to go on the overlap and create. Absolute class, getting a deal like that done in January is unbelievable business.

I don't really want to focus on one player after such a good performance but how good is Connor Hall up the pitch? I've never seen a Vale central defender who's so comfortable in the final third whether that's link-up play, clever runs or crosses into the box. A superb signing by the club.
Even Lewis Cass? Some of his crosses wouldn't have been out of place in the PL (the one straight onto Proctors bonce for example against Orient)

I'd love to get Cass back on a permanent deal, assuming his recovery is going as expected. I know we signed Robinson, but see him more as a prospect for development, maybe send him out on loan at start of next season, whereas Cass is L2/L1 ready now.

I can’t agree with that, Benning significantly better than Jones and we have Gibbons as well but I prefer him at right back but get Cass in and let’s remember it’s a squad game, I like Hussey but let the manager and Crosby make the decisions get behind them all, trust in them, Flitcroft and the owners we cane get into division one automatic pack the park be the twelfth man UTV

Politic has still only played 10 mins since leaving 3 months ago. Been on the bench so probably not injuries. They're top with 5 games to go. Might become available in the summer? 👀

No i wasn't suggesting release Benning i was just thinking of the conundrum seeing as he only signed for a year.

We pushed the boat out as i say for Hussey, DC and AC clearly prefer Gibbo on the left particularly as it gets him and Worrall in the same starting line up.

As you say get behind whoever plays i was just thinking out loud for the summer.

I thought about Glover when I posted that but I think it's chalk and cheese.

Glover never made those runs that Hall makes. Deano was great and at higher levels too. I don't think I've seen a calmer and classier performer at the back than Glover but in terms of forward play by a defender, I think Hall is the best I've seen.

I think you're being a bit unfair there on Glover, Rob.  I remember him featuring well in attacking positions, and his positional play was second to none, wherever he was on the pitch.  Pity he could be as successful when it came to management, eh?

I have no time for Salford, they are just a vanity project for 5 multi millionaire champagne socialists who thought they could waltz into the game and show well established clubs how it should be done. they bring nothing to the table except pay over inflated salaries to average players, and hire and fire managers with a regular monotony.

I would have had more respect if they had taken Scholes old club Oldham or Nevilles Bury but they arrogantly felt they would take Salford just to prove to the football world how easy it is.

Their away support is a joke they put nothing into the coffers of the home club in fact it probably costs clubs to entertain them, turnstile operatives, stewards, catering etc.

Talking of losing money, Project 92 Ltd, parent company of Salford City, lost £91,000 a week in 2020/21 so they are good at something.

Didn't DF suggest the same kind of thing when he was questioned on it? Along the lines of 'good luck to him but I don't think we've seen the last of him'?
