Agree 100% Paedo-Gradi and his school boys probably thought they got lucky when they heard about out impending points deduction. The form we're in we'll still finish above them.

Think we would need at least 30 points from 12 games. Got Swindon, Shrews, Torquay and creepy away and Oxford at home amongst them - so no sadly. But heh, if we have a League club that we can be proud of and believe in and trust next season that will do for me. Hopefully today is the start of a new era for us. VTID

 

Potentially Swindon will already be promoted by the time we play them while the others could quite easily throw a wobbly between now and then.

The 3 draws against Bradford,Crewe and Accrington will cost us dearly come May..We would need to win 10 out the last 12 games to scrape in playoffs..

 

I've been going over those draws in my head all evening, and it's driving me mad. If only we had won those , it would only be a 6 point difference after the deduction. It's not impossible, but it will take a huge effort from the team. Mick Cullerton said that other sides are starting to fall apart now, like Crawley, and even Oxford tonight, but we have Torquay, Swindon, and Shrewsbury to come. I can't see it happening, but , if it does, it will be the miracle of the season, and Micky Adams should be knighted.:D

Don't think we were quite good enough before the points deduction and there's no chance now and to be honest the club isn't ready for it ,the club have been dragged through hell of late and just needs to stabilise for now.

Totally agree Tosh, pre deduction we arent good enough which the results against Accrington, Bradford and Crewe have highlighted really. Promotion teams hang on and make those results and like the last few seasons, we are probably two players short of a promotion team. nice to dream but thats all it is until next year

It aint over till the fat lady sings!!! I still believe we can do it, huge ask from the lads and Micky, but with how things go at vale park with our panto seasons I wouldnt put it past us.

 

Mathematically still poss and until it isnt I will keep the belief playoffs are ours for the taking!!!

I feel like a nutter for even considering it but I also think there's an outside chance we could recoup the 10 point deduction.

 

This division is so inconsistent anyone who can put a proper run together will catch up on the top seven and I'm hoping our lads can do just that to give it their best shot. If we finish less than 10 points from the play offs at least that would indicate we could do it next season - assuming we get sensible new owners and keep the core of the squad together.

 

However, with my more realistic head on I'll just be grateful to still be in the league come May.

Obviously not impossible but highly unlikely. There is some dross in this league, but we also have Swindon, Crawley, Shrewsbury n Torquay to play away. Oxford are also a bit of a bogie side for us. I think I've only seen us beat them twice in numerous match over my 20 years going Vale!

Last season at this stage accrington we're on 43 points - they went on to finish 5th!! Playoffs can still happen!
