I think ,and hope, that sooner rather than later,a less unrational Russian(s) take him out.I’m not sure if bombing a nuclear power station has any other result than to get it closed down.A nuclear expert ,on TV this morning, said nuclear power stations are virtually impenetrable.

The criticism of Putin is now increasingly rapidly, sanctions will hopefully continue to bite, we should consider widening sanctions to countries who help or assist in any way, starting with Belarus and Pakistan. And when hopefully this war is over let’s never forget what this dictator has done, and isolate him forever

However much the West does, it will also need the Russian people and his inner circle to turn on him and there's absolutely no evidence of this currently. Heavy and one-sided state propoganda is keeping the average Russian in the dark over his real evil intentions.  All the propoganda is telling the Russian public that NATo & the West are the aggressors!

Why turn this in to a political debate?

Because it is a valid point? Anyone who cares to look can see that the tories have taken donations from dodgy Russian sources and you can analyse why they may have done that.

Chelsea have had some wonderful years from Abramovich`s ill gotten fortune. He knows his time is up as it was 10 years ago and is selling up fast.

Because Abramovich has yet to denounce Putin's evil war.  He's doing the usual selfish thing of protecting himself & his assets.  I doubt very much that he cares anything for the Ukrainian people!

Try to think before you accuse, nobody's squeaky clean.

Edward Lucas's 2008 Economist article associated the tactic specifically with the Soviet Union, stating "Soviet propagandists during the cold war were trained in a tactic that their western interlocutors nicknamed 'whataboutism'. Any criticism of the Soviet Union (Afghanistan, martial law in Poland, imprisonment of dissidents, censorship) was met with a 'What about...' (apartheid South Africa, jailed trade-unionists, the Contras in Nicaragua, and so forth)." Lucas recommended two methods of properly countering whataboutism: to "use points made by Russian leaders themselves" so that they cannot be applied to the West, and for Western nations to engage in more self-criticism of their own media and government.[4]

Is that why South Africa and Nicaragua both abstained on a UN vote to condemn the invasion of Ukraine?

A Russian(UK citizen) ,on Question Time, said Putin wants all the Oligarchs back in Russia with their  money.A question, why would you announce the names of people that the government are targeting?Surely a “quieter”  approach could prove more effective?

Except that the "quieter" approach leads to people (and the media) clamouring for more transparent action--it is I think, genuinely difficult for the government to get this completely right. Because of their sheer wealth, these guys have ways (and the means) to shuffle money & non-fixed assets around the globe and not all countries are showing the same willingness to 'punish' the oligarchs.
