Hell of a statement although I would be wary though about this appointment if I was a fan - he doesn’t know L2 at all unless he has watched a lot of games whilst out of work.

Great timing for us Bradford are at home to Mansfield next.

Will probably eat my words but (I suppose like any manager) his appointment does seem a bit of a gamble seen as he's been out the game for a while and has no experience in league two.

Not sure how I would if Vale appointed Hughes.

Feels like he's there to develop his skills set/experience in the lower leagues,  or even a stepping stone for another role later on.

Just doesn't seem right.

Let's hope for the "new manager bounce" to put paid to Mansfield!

I note some people see this appointment as being of high quality and reference is made to a proven manager at a higher level. I would like to know on what basis he is assessed as being a good manager.

Mr Hughes' managerial honours amount to.....................nothing, although he did once win manager of the month.

Mr Adams, who made way for him, as a manager has won 4 promotions.  In the process he took Ross County and Morecambe to their highest ever league placing. Every team he has managed has won promotion under him, except Bradford City, who sacked him without having a full season in post.

Mr Hughes' overall win rate is 37%.  Mr Adams has a win rate of 41%.

When comments are made about a proven track record, the only proof appears to be that he was there, at the top level as a manager, without actually doing anything of note.

For me, this is a strange appointment and I will be surprised if it works out well, time will tell.
