Match Thread: Port Vale v Stevenage

8 games unbeaten

14 points in that time

4 clean sheets

We can only focus on our games and just try to keep picking points up

The squad and fans are incredible considering what's happening in the background

On to the next one

After going 2 up after 12 minutes the game was there to be won by 4 or 5 if we had gone for it. But again, we were content to just do enough. Still really lack pace in the side which can make us look so pedestrian at times.

Crosby said we need to be hitting 2 points per game.

We are 2 points off that over that period having played 1st, 2nd and 3rd.

Just hope that these dropped points in last minutes Dosent come back to haunt us. Two points per game clearly the target but we should still be beating the likes of Rochdale. Overall as you say makes good reading especially as I don’t think we have played well for some time

I have been up and down with my assessments and can't afford to go every game. I've been to 10 home league games and 2 in the cup.

I feel genuinely proud to be a Vale fan considering the fact that the manager has suffered a bereavement and cannot influence the players.

Keep chipping away and hopefully we can keep climbing the table

Nothing more than training match today. Lacked intensity but you can’t only beat what’s in front of you and Stevenage where as bad as anyone we have faced so far.

Very frustrated we are still playing without conviction in attacking areas and not  playing it forward when the pass is on.

Having said that I will be very happy with 10 more comfortable victories playing in 1st gear.

Result was always more important than the performance today and a 2-0 will do very nicely thanks to two moments of class by Gibbo.

Hope Dave Worrall's injury is nothing serious, Vale can't afford to lose him long term.

Stevenage passed the ball around well at times but didn't appear to have any real cutting edge in the last third..

Away this weekend so got back after 19 thousand steps later  at about twenty five past 3 saw we two up overjoyed so noticed someone had put it on a Vale site watched the rest and saw us create diddly squat for the rest of the  game but noticed that Stevenage were still having a go but good defending blocking shots and we won but deary me we offered little to nothing .

Suppose game over at 2-0 just seen the second goal a goal of beauty well done Ryan Edmondson and first looks to me like J Proctors scored that .

UTV that crap side have just beat Northampton who we drew with on Tues you know the one we  outfought for 93 mins

Keep the faith the net is closing and thats with not great performances ,wait till we start playing well .

Can't really analyse that. You could have left in the 14th minute and missed nothing. We didn't play well and didn't need to.

Utterly turgid opposition and I'm sick to the back teeth of teams bringing <100 fans and turning games into training exercises. Get me out of this league.

Need 7 points from the next 9 so there's momentum ahead of the big games.

Awful game, good job it took them 15 minutes to settle into it. Got a stiff neck from watching the ball in the air from us. No creativity at all. Did not look like a top 7 side on that performance, but 3 points is all that matters so we move on.

I think its worth thinking about maybe reverting to 3-5-2 and get Charsley into midfield. Could do with adding some extra energy in the middle of the park and he did that today. I’d be looking give him a chance at Harrogate.

Hopefully Worrall is ok but just at first glance I fear he will be gone for a few weeks.
