It got them promoted to the premiership in the first place though and a 9th place finish last season. Injuries and a tiny squad are the reason Leeds are struggling they’ve barely been able to name a side for months.

Not saying it’s the way to go as they should have changed it up months ago but entertaining football can and does have just as much success as defensive football

Building off this, there is an increasing trend that positive, 'taking the game to the opponents' football is far more sustainable long-term than sit deep, reactive football.

There's a reason Benitez and Mourinho have completely fallen from relevancy, and Pulis, Warnock, and the other dinosaurs struggle to get top-level work. Palace moved from Hodgson to Vieira, Wolves from Nuno to Lage, Newcastle Bruce to Howe. Leeds have replaced Bielsa with Marsch, the manager who is closest to Bielsa's style - high-pressing, positive football. They had long-identified him.

Managers such as Potter and Hasenhuttl are probably the most well-regarded ones outside of the Top 6 and they play 'positive' football. You can't get away with safety-first football for very long these days (with an exception of Sean Dyche, who may finally have ran out of steam).

Of course, it is different at our level, with more parity of resources - but FGR also play a possession-heavy, positive style, which we've managed to disrupt but has been overwhelmingly successful. A long-term commitment to 'positive' football, and signing players to achieve this, is the best route to sustainable success, in my opinion. Of course, here and now we need wins at any cost.

There was little to celebrate in beating that pathetic Stevenage side. We are missing Cass who managed to play at centre half and  play football unlike the very limited Smith.

Each to their own I suppose... but pathetic Stevenage managed a 0.0 draw at Swindon, beat Walsall 3.1 and only lost 1.0 away to Tranmere after having the majority of possession (much like they did at Vale). They have a manager who has been at League 1 level with numerous league 2 play offs and a couple of promotions. So I wil certainly celebrate the beating of this pathetic team 🙂

I was a big Cass fan from  the start but he's gone now hence perhaps one of the reasons behind our slight change in emphasis....

Completely agree.
