With clearing out the deadwood, then the new reinforcements in this transfer window, I'd suggest this summer's close season won't need to see such massive investment in new players...even if we get promotion, i think many of this squad will do ok in Lge 1, for a season...different loan players, probably, but not such a massive turnover? So, could, possibly, divert some funds towards the new pitch which would be more of an investment than a burden! Either postpone the RW concert, or ringfence some cash towards summer close season 2023...slightly earlier if we have away games at the end of the season. I started to read an article about Real Madrid's top-rated pitch guy - a Brit - who's implemented or about to implement a new way of growing pitches which will allow RM to utilise the ground for more of the year, and may earn up to £100 million  / year extra? Can't remember where I saw the article though - but this is it, in less detail:

Does it cope with mine shafts?

Not so much mine shafts but there are four metro lines that run under the Bernabéu and up the Paseo de la Castellana that they would have needed to take into consideration. I can’t get my head around how the pitch there will work.

We've just splashed out quarter of a mill on a new tannoy system though. Priorities.

Reading between the lines of this article it sounds like.

1. We have no choice on the PA system as it’s a health and safety issue… “Sometimes your hand is forced by the fact we have to do things to make us safe and compliant. The PA system is probably the single most important investment for lots of reasons and it has to be done.”

2. The Robbie concert is potentially paying for it? The article says “there will be a significant investment in the PA system before the concert. Then that will benefit the club on matchdays and future games.”

We don't know the specification. Is it to a concert standard for future smaller ones that would not use the pitch? It also includes systems within Lorne St, not saying I was not surprised at the cost.

I don't think Robbie will use the stadium tannoy as his PA system for the gig.

Forgive my ignorance on this subject, I'm no sports scientist, but would it not be more sensible/impactful (and possibly cost effective given less stringent regs?) to sort the training pitch first, given the respective time spent on training pitch (several hours a few days per week), rather than the main VP pitch (properly heavy for about 15x90mins per season)?

I know intensity is going to be greater on match day, but is it possibly the cumulative toll on the muscles from running/turning on a heavy pitch day in day out that may be more detrimental? Genuine question, as others on here will be better informed than me!

Obviously want to get the main pitch sorted as well, but in terms of priorities, is that the main underlying cause of our injury issues?

DC said in the press brief the other day there’s been work done on the training pitches thanks to C&K and they’re actually “100 times better” than the proper one.

Cheers Doha, sorry, must have missed that one.
