Not a bad player, sometimes he looks less comfortable on the ball than he ought to be. Also a very different player to Gibbo.

I hope nobody who’s clutching their pearls about this thread was having a go at the new keeper yesterday.

I thought the new keeper had a good game, looked very assured collecting crosses, yes he did the odd miskick but he’d never played on that pitch before and had only just met his team mates for the first time just prior to ko.

It takes time for players to settle into any team at any level. I do think that he has strengthened the defence and there is no doubt that he has a sweet left foot. Unfortunately, and it is a pet hate of mine with professional footballers, he is so one footed. Difference with Gibbo and Woz is that they will use either foot, whether getting to the bye-line or cutting inside on the other foot. Time will tell.

His quality from corners is there for all to see. He strengthens the squad.

The centre forward position, in the absence of Proctor, is the worry. We've brought two young lads in on loan who may work or may not. Time will tell.

With Wilson behind Proctor, plus support from Woz, Pett, Garrick, Conlon and Gibbo, we were scoring three goals per game from all round the team.

Hopefully Edmondson has the tools and ability to replace Proctor until he's fit again and Wilson, Woz, Pett, Garrick, Charlsey and Hussey can create the angles and chances that we were creating in October and November. 🤞

Yep. He's decent.

An issue here is that Gibbo's pace and tenacity was a key part of our build up - Hussey is a very different wing-back, with a better cross but physically a bit weaker. Not Hussey's fault but the team is drilled to look for the wing-back overlap, who then cuts back, and he isn't capable. He's a deeper, swing it in sort of player, which will require a shift in approach.

Just a pity we haven't got an experienced striker good with his head, he'd have a field day with the crosses put in by Hussey, Worrall and Benning when he plays.

I simply can't get past the fact that we haven't sign any attacking player with a crumb of experience in this window.

I agree, a tad disappointing to hear yesterday that Vale had been offered strikers but haven't acted, perhaps they weren't the right ones. In Vale's current situation still with a decent chance of promo, there has to be a way.
