we have mal benning and dan jones (and if you want to be pedantic gibbo) who can sit in that position when its glaringly obvious we needed a striker in the lee hughes mould who can bag us 15 goals between now and the end of the season?

I think he suffers by comparison to Gibbons in the form he was in pre injury. Good second half today.

We could have Salah, Messi and Pele up top. Without the service they wouldn't score either. Hussey was brought in to help with the service into the box. What did he do today? Set up our goal.

Can't believe this thread, he has got better with each game he has played, set the goal up, another great ball in for Wilson, set Harratt up for the effort that hit the post and good defensively, not sure what else he could have done.  For me today along with Wilson and Hall again our stand out performers.

Thought he played well today.  Looks like he’ll be a steady performer from what little we have to go on.  A consistent 7 out of 10 player, and there’s nowt wrong with that.

Not Gibbo. Looks a bit past his best. Done alright without pulling up any trees. The corner was about the first decent set piece delivery. And that said, they made I right hash of defending it.  In a polarized world of social media "ay's ow reet" doesn't cut much. Put in a decent cross for the Wilson header.

Solid defensively. Done alright. Nothing special.  But not crap.  Think Hall is the better signing just slightly.  Smithy and Hall could do a job in a 4 at the back. Martin just looked surplus to requirements today without doing badly.  His heading is just - weak.

I think this is a major problem with fans,Hussey is never going to be charging down the left(although who was it who got free in the area but decided to cross when he could of had a shot really,yes Hussey outpaced the defence). His crossing is probably the best at the club,he was playing virtually every game in League one this season when we signed him,for me he is class and is settling in.

Classic vale fans unfortunately… you can see him being slowly painted with the scapegoat brush now Martin is starting to play well.

Altjough the new keeper who had been at the club for 24 hours wasn’t absolutely perfect in his first ever game in-front of a defence he hadn’t trained fully with… so they might pick him. The race is on!

Goodness knows what it would be like if we decided to encourage players who aren’t immediately perfect more than the average team? Quite useful I would imagine… but alas we will never know.

Hussey has been a brilliant addition.
