Not arguing with you but is 5-3-2 particularly more defensive than 4-4-2? We've put in some thrilling attacking displays with 5 at the back, albeit with Gibbo in the side.

Probably not, although some games particularly at home i want to see us start more front foot. The wing backs as often commented can see Worrall very deep at times.

It's always about the players on the day not a formation. Either way we need to be at it and get an early goal for confidence. Start on the front foot, get the crowd behind them. Ponderous plodding and zero oomph will make it a flat occasion. The season won't be defined by Scunthorpe but this is a game we have to win in my book.

i think he means if ever there is a game not to have 5 at the back then an horrific bottom of the league team at home is the game to go 4-4-3 or 4-4-2

we shouldn't be stacked with 5 at the back against Scunthorpe, however you dress up the formation.

Exactly.

The issue with it for me is that our spare man is always a CB instead of an attacker. It’s fine away from home, as we’ve seen with some great results. But at home more often than not it’s failed and we’ve had to switch it up at half time. Personally i don’t think it suits some of our players, wozza is wasted, amoo and Rodney don’t fit in ect.

I don't think the spare man being at the back is too much of a problem when Cass and Jones are on the pitch. It actually works to our benefit similar to the way it worked for Sheffield utd for a coupke of years under Wilder. When one is out it becomes a problem as the opposition just leave Smith as the free man and shut off the simple pass.

Still don’t think it works particularly well at home and I’d prefer the extra man to be a midfielder personally but I do agree, away from home it’s worked well when Jones and Cass are the extra man. When smith is the extra man it’s so easy to defend against

If we play 532 cant see us picking up a win- we need to go at teams its driving me crazy how defensive we are. Had we got at salford and orient im sure we would of picked 6 points up. darrel needs to come up with some fresh ideas and he needs to do it fast carol has backed him and were looking like a mid table team

I should hope not.

He's coming up to one year in post.

Massive overhaul from top to bottom.

Compare now to this time last year.

All I see is progress...
