Negativity from me is because I though they were they for the taking. They looked knackered 2nd half and had no danger. Earlier in the season we would have buried them, yet today, we didn’t even try. We were happy to take the 0-0, DC and co telling players to come off slowly at 0-0 when we’re on top isn’t something I want to see. Stone holding onto the ball towards then end when we had a potential overload for a counter attack. It’s just too negative, we defended well, but when you play a side not on it you have to create something.

I just don’t think it’s a great achievement to get a point at a side 13th in the league. Why is that such a superb result? I don’t think they’ll be up there come the end of the season, they draw too many games and looked bang average today. We’re better away from home than at home, so we need to be looking to take 3 points away from home. I think my other disappointment is that we seem to be fixed into this 532 no matter what. Today would have been perfect to swap to a back 4 second half. Why bring amoo and Wilson off for the two young lads? Go 4 at the back with Amoo on the wide right and have a go.  A point ain’t bad, and the clean sheet is very good but I’m just frustrated that they were there to be beaten and we didn’t even try.

It definitely looked like avoiding defeat was more important than trying to win today. I'd understand that stance against a strong side but Leyton were abysmal and there for the taking.

Sorry, but any notion that being the 7th best team in Division Four will be an achievement merely underlines how far we've fallen.

The reason for the negativity is (in my view) some of the absentees that make us depleted aren't going to be with us for a while.

I don't like what's been said about Conlon 'making decisions' and 'seeing specialists'. Gibbons was in tears and has a history of long-term hamstring injuries. That's two of our best three players potentially out for the long term. We've also permanently lost a creative maverick who could be trusted to turn games and would have bagged points for us himself before May.

Those three losses, and the seemingly distant return of Proctor, leaves us with an available squad which I think will struggle to consistently compete in the top 7 of this league.

It's no ones fault. We've got unlucky. Imagine losing JMW, Dodds, and Loft in 12/13. I doubt we'd have gone up if that had been the case. Maybe Flitters will pull one out of the hat. I just think we're a fair bit weaker than we were on Dec 31st. I was ultra optimistic but Gibbo + Conlon + Politic is a massive blow to any League 2 team.

It just means DC finds a different way to win, which he will. The transfer window is still open and I’m positive we can expect to see a few reinforcements to cover injuries.

I agree they did look for the taking 2nd half but if I was Orient I would say the same thing about us as we offered very little. For me you just have to remember where we are as a team at present. It’s night and day from the heady days of September and October. A point away at a play off rival is a very good point and a place to start and build an unbeaten run.

A scrappy win next week and things will look very different.

I may be proved wrong but anyone on here who thinks that we will get an experienced striker this week needs to have a think.

Its very frustrating, but really where do people think that we are going to get an eperienced goal scorer from in the January transfer window? Anyone half decent who isnt one step off a pension is contracted. You could probbly get a striker from somewhere else, but there is so much dross around. Do we really want someone elses Guthrie or Robinson?

Tranmere have signed Kane Hemmings and Bristol Rovers have signed Ryan Loft. There's two straight away. Salford have also signed one but it's unfair to make comparisons there. I'm sure 1-2 more will come this week. Why on earth shouldn't we? We've just paid fees for two defenders.

Point being that we lost our first choice forwards around the Bradford game and have been in poor form since, unsurprisingly.

In that time, we've signed two lads on loan with 4 league goals between, and have picked up 1 point from 9 since, scoring 1 wonder goal.

I'll be honest I do not know what the players think but for some players it's like doing the okey cokey there in there out there rested there injured .

Martin for example he is in the team then he as a poor game he is out .

I thought tues first half we were generally good so why have Wilson and Amoo being selected up front when Wilson in the games I have seen as offered nothing at all not even a goal attempt in what is it until he went off v Brentford ,45 mins v Swindon the whatever amount of minutes he was on v Salford and today for what was it 75 mins and he is supposed be a class act it's about time he started show it the desire just is not there at present .

As for Amoo I haven't being overly  impressed with him either Garrity has put him in today why hasn't he flew past the defender and driven home instead he has shot and it didn't even go on target it was the effort of a player going through the motions .

So the wrong two selected there he should have gone with Harratt and Bailey the  lad from the youth team (you know sometimes the unknown comes up trumps ).

It's no good having the ball if your forwards are like statues need to sort the front line out too many games are going by with no impact from players who should well make one

Yes, I cannot fathom why we signed two youth team strikers, one fine, but why two? I saw nothing from Edmundson against Salford and they were/are a very poor side IMO. So why haven’t we moved for an experienced striker? Surely we must have been in for Loft? I can understand the Politic situation, but he isn’t a natural striker nor was he starting away, although that type of wild card my well have produced the goods in a tight game like today. But yes, very odd. I suspect we’ve seen the last of Rodney though.

Its not always a case of being in for these players,it depends what wage demands these players want, the club at this moment in time wont break a wage structure whether we want them to or not

Reading the comments back I can’t understand the negativity on here. A depleted Vale squad have just come back from a really tough L2 team who will definitely be competing for play off places with a point. We have stopped the sequence of losses, looking  really solid at the back in the process for 1st time since probably around September/October. Something to build on to get the season going again. We are only just off the playoffs and auto places with 20+ games to go and most of the teams in and around us have to come to VP.

It will come good keep the faith.

We were riding high in the table either 2nd or 3rd right on the tails of Forest Green, then injuries struck to our 2 experienced strikers and then the rest went,we seem to have been cursed ever since.

I read yesterday that Matt and Stevens had scored 30 out of 50 league goals for FG(or something like that) now take those 2 out of their team and imo they wouldn't be top and the same with others at the top, take a few of their best players out and they would struggle like we have. So as you say we have been depleted, now lets try and get players in and stock up and then see where we go over the next couple of months

Hemmings,Loft,Smith and Akins are all good forwards and they will all be on a decent wage, those of us expecting strikers like that to come in(Telford etc) are not going to get what we want, there is a wage structure and DC has said he wont break that

I would love us to go out and get a top striker but i know that isn't going to happen plus we could go and pay 4k a week for a striker and they are pap so then what

If our wage structure prohibits us from sign Loft or Hemmings I'd be a bit concerned.
