be better giving ideas to get low attendances up! 4500 odd very poor attendance tranmere v fgr 11000!😒

I thought 4500 was actually very decent for a Tuesday in the Fourth Division. Tranmere did a deal on tickets and Liverpool & Everton weren't playing.

Night matches now are available on ifollow, which could be attractive to some particularly in January and must have some effect on the gate. The Tranmere gate was 1st v 2nd with both teams on a good run.  If we can get back on a decent run we may have better gates later in the season.

so we learn from them and have ticket offers for walk ins? the fickle fans may then take them up.😏

I certainly pay my tenner and watch the mid-week evening games. I'm not able to attend physically, but am glad to be able to contribute some money to the club and shout at the TV

I'd be surprised if there wasn't more of us; so that raises the overall 'attendance'

Same here. I can't make it to games (financially just not viable) but paying a tenner (where most goes to the club) is something I happily do!

Living out of the area, I’ve seen more Vale matches since IFollow came in than for many years.
love it when we have Tuesday night games so I can watch. Looking forward to the next few weeks

still get to the ground when I can when visiting my mum who still lives in Stoke ( she knows visiting coincides with home games 😄)

Ditto. I have no chance of getting to midweek games without taking loads of time off work so I enjoy midweek on iFollow (which at least gives the club a bit of money rather than nothing) and I try and get up for as many Saturday games as I can.

Likewise. I still see my 6 home games live and numerous away but thanks to I follow and a good VPN, I have access to every single one..plus the club get more money!

An easy win really.

I think it would cost that much just to properly dispose of the contents of the slag heap that the Railway is built on.

Stripping the pitch, soil, digging out 1m of clay, filling it with 1m of sand and then laying a new pitch on it would probably be in the order of shifting 60,000 tons about. Just the pitch, without even touching the railway or the hill. Mental.

If we spent that amount on money on the Railway, surely we'd still want the cameras facing that gleaming, new stand 😉

Back to attendances, I've said this before but I still think it's worth repeating. For me, one way to raise attendances both in the immediate term and long-term is for the money for the LS concourse to be raised and that section made into the family section ASAP.

If we can offer younger fans a new section of the LS with top-notch facilities rather than the current "afterthought" (a block of the Bycars) it would give the younger fans a much better experience. With the owners we've got I've no doubt the club would also pull out the stops to entertain them in that section too - shop promotions, player signings, competitions and so on.

Knowing they are going to have nice facilities and a good experience would encourage more young fans to come in the short-term and in the longer-term, some of them could well go on to become life-long fans, thus helping the club in the long-term too.

There's so many things that going to a live football match competes with nowadays that having a modern, dedicated area for families would be my number one suggestion. Yes, there are other more short-term promotions which would possibly work to boost attendances this season but I think we need a long-term strategy as Vale's fanbase has been an ageing one in recent decades.

I think we have the right owners in place who will understand that and work on attracting young fans but right now they are hamstrung as to where to put them, so I just hope we do eventually reach that total so the concourse work can be done.

Carol has said the biggest problem with the Lorne Street is finding a new place to put the facilities behind the wall. There is a player's gym there apparently and the players are keen for it to stay, but would be required to be removed to allow the concourse area.

I like the fact that I can watch on iFollow but am coming up in March to see Vale vs Mansfield. The first time that I will get to use my season ticket for two years.

After 2 years I’d have picked an “easier” fixture for that trip, some team we’d be likely to smash……..but at least there should be a decent crowd in. 😬👍🏻
