It's been done to death about this on here.  For example we have 5000 season ticket holders yet sometimes have 4700 attending.  Purely because we count who turns up.

Stoke have say 20'000 season tickets and count them regardless.  My best mate is a lardie and he openly admits ( particularly night games ) that there are 14,15,16 thousand there yet the crowd given as 21,673 .

You only have to look at the swathes of red seats on the TV footage.

This isn't a pop at Stoke, lots of clubs do it. At Vale we prefer honesty apart from the reign of WT Bell .

Honesty 8000 yesterday there was nearly that many in the railway

From photos it looks 20,000 odd tbf. Why do we care anyway?

I'm wondering with possibly a few Saturday/ Tuesday games if Vale ought to do double header tickets cheaper to attract pay on the day punters.

I know that doesn't always sit well with season ticket holders of which I am one .

But say 35 quid for the double headers. Probably too late for Swindon and Salford but we ought to look at initiatives.

Most if all clubs in the top 2 divisions publish their attendance as what their ticket sales are, Sunderland were the first and it’s very noticeable they get very low gates for cup ties. Arsenal a few seasons back were publishing gates over 40,000 when it was reckoned half those games were less than 25000 there. I’m sure if we did it we would be averaging close to 7000. I think Bradford do it and their season tickets are less than £200 so be interesting to see how many do actually attend there.

So, if we don't do that and we could, why don't we do it?

It portrays you as a bigger club to the football community,  including players and agents,  helping to attract players  ( not that that seems to be a problem atm)

Well here is a fact. Going to Tuesday night games for me is much harder than going to Saturday games. I have to take leave to attend and stay overnight. But I'm retiring in June after which I will be unconcerned about it anymore.

However, as a season ticket holder the actual cost to the club is nil except for I might have bought a pie and gone in the club shop. I bought a season ticket for my son in 2021/22 and knew circumstances would likely not allow him to attend. That's what has happened so far, so the club will score that as no attendance but they still get the money. When I retire my budget will have to reduce and I won't do the same next season.

Personally I’d rather see all clubs announce the true attendance. For me the clue is in the name ATTENDANCE

We actually contacted the Football League about this a few years ago.  We were told they were quite happy for clubs to use whatever system they wanted to announce attendances.  We have season tickets at two different clubs, Vale announce bums on seats the other announces tickets sold.  We are frequently counted in two different attendances on the same day!
