Recent signings I would go with Worrall. Still not sure why he came the Vale, over 40 games for Millwall when they get promoted to the Championship and then steps down a division. Very consistent player who has created more goals than any one else in his time at the Vale,

Ian Taylor, paid 15k and sold him for over a million. Possibly the best player I’ve ever seen for the Vale.

Interesting you said Ian Taylor , I have had this discussion many times but who would you have in your side Robbie Earle or Ian Taylor , most say Robbie Earle for me Taylor just edges it but I think Earle’s longer stay and promotion to div 2 plus him being local most say Earle, both great players

Wasn’t location a big reason Wozz moved back north?  I think there was a rumour he had had an oatcake cheese n bacon habit but this was partially shot down when I spotted him in the Vale Caf eating one filled with sausage, cheese and brown sauce.

Going back to the original question I'd throw in Scott Brown at the time. After the goal keeping shed show we'd had I swear only he kept us up.  Time for him to move on no argument about that.  But at the time a life saver.

Woz, not too shabby a signing.  Legge has done a job.  Amoo. Just talking about recent past signings, not recent signings.

No doubting Brown was a good signing at the time but we’ve had better keepers.

Woz is the best signing we've had in the last six years or so. He's consistently outstanding.

TC has improved loads over the past two seasons and, on his day, is part of a strong Vale midfield alongside Pett, who is also very good.

Wilson has quality and, if he can avoid injuries, has the potential to be great for us.

Jones is also an excellent signing.

Robbie Earle was a fantastic player and it is hard to disagree with people arguing for Earle but for me he wouldn’t be in my all time best Port Vale team on a 4-4-2 basis. I would go for Taylor and Walker in the middle. One argument for Earle was that he played for us in a higher division, but I think Taylor squashes that argument with how good he was for Villa.
