Can't agree with your crass stupidity comment.  Proctor had been out for five weeks and had been in training.  He came on for 20 minutes the other night which is a reasonable action to take when bringing a player back from injury.  I think he was just unlucky.

Also a different injury - so could have happened at any time?

He blatantly wasn’t ready. Was clear as day from just how he ran on the pitch. 100% rushed back imo.

Serious problems up top without Wilson and Proctor. Amoo should be out wide, Rodney through the middle. What is wrong with Devante, something is? Hope he works through things. Where was Politic?  Well short tbh and deserately in need of a 'proven' striker on loan.

Today Gibbons, Pett and garrity were great

Totally agree with your assessment. And, like you, I am at a loss as to what's the problem (or problems) surrounding Devante.  After an impressive last season, I was really looking forward to seeing him progress during this one. Hopefully there's still time for him to blossom. We need someone to take up the slack up front!

For normal hernia surgery, one to two weeks; for sports people six to twelve weeks

So much for crass stupidity

For Alan Shearer 10 days.

The time frame for getting back to normal activity is around six to twelve weeks, a very wide margin. Being in good shape before your surgery can help decrease that time, but everyone is different, and every sports hernia injury is different.

Five weeks?  Rushed?

It was clear he was rushed back, yeah he probably got injured which wasnt connected to the previous inury but he looked off the pace completely before then.  There is no way if Wilson or Lloyd had been fit that he would have been on the bench.  For me we should not have been taking any chances with such an important player when so many matches between now and the New Year.

Selective quote. From the article I researched, which you quoted:

"When you’re on the road to recovery from a sports hernia injury, it can be tempting to shoot ahead or hang back, but taking it step by step will help ensure that you recover fully from your surgery and get back in the game."

Clearly we shot ahead.

You are both making assumptions about the state of Proctor's recovery.  We don't know how serious the hernia was, where it was located, what was the nature of the surgery he had or owt else about it.  The management have shown with other players that they have been very careful bringing players back from injury - look how they've managed Gibbons for example - so I don't believe for one moment that Proctor was rushed back.  They have not done it with any other player.

Selective quote again!  As my quote said, everyone is different, so perhaps step by step for Proctor saw him ready to play 20 minutes on Tuesday.  The collision with the keeper which has caused the other problem was just unlucky.
