Interested to see how things go this year.

Flitters has been very clear that the youth academy has underperformed and has to be improved.

I believe we signed a number of 16/17 year olds from other clubs over the summer.

Bailey, Jones, and McFarlane have all been involved in the senior squad and McFarlane and Jones are listed under the 'first team' section of the website. DC + staff were at the youth game last night.

I know 1-2 regulars on here went; any feedback from last night's game? Anyone stand out?

It was hard to tell who was who because the club put out a team sheet with no shirt numbers on. The players weren’t wearing 1-11 either.

First 25-30 minutes we were easily the better team. McFarlane was having a good game until his injury, this was around the time that Salford started to wrestle control of the game away from us. The number 4 was playing well in centre mid but faded and was subbed early in the second half. I think it might have been Dave Flitcroft’ son who came on for him.

Our number 3 looked a decent player, nice and tidy on the ball, strong, got up and down the left hand side well.

McFarlane clearly the name to watch after his bench appearance the other night.

In youth football you never know if a player stands out because he’s good or if he’s just a bit older & more developed physically than the others around him. McFarlane is one of the bigger lads certainly but he does look like he has something about him.
