The one thing that all the opponents of Blair's knighthood are getting their knickers in a twist about is his decision to go to war in Iraq.  Remember this was a decision supported by Parliament and virtually all the Tory members at the time.

hmmmm...but based on lies presented to them as "facts"

Can’t believe the fuss about Blair’s knighthood people forget that him and Clinton were responsible for the peace talks with the republicans and loyalists resulting in the ceasefire saving hundreds of lives in Northern Ireland and Britain when all you got of thatcher and her cronies was we will not talk to terrorists

He may have taken the credit but he didn't do the talking.

Wasn't that about the time Clinton was doing free checks on gag reflex and acid reflux ? Seems odd the yanks taking any credit for peace talks when they were funding one side.

Not the sort of knighthood that Johnson hands out to his cronies, but a Garter in the personal gift of the Queen. So a criticism of the Queens judgement irrespective of Blairs merits.

Are we going to be offering the same goodwill for "arise Sir Boris"?

It seems to be just accepted that he lies but we're just sidestepping Blair for entering into a 20 year war based on nothing? And didn't he promise to spin it for Bush too?

This is all exactly why Governments should have less power not more. You cannot trust them, they <ovf censored> eveything up, they're all corrupt, all have ulterior motives and none of them end up poor. The colour of their ties makes no difference.

If she made the decision mate, which is questionable, she isn't above scrutiny or criticism.

I would be surprised if she allowed anyone else  to make Garter Knight decisions.

You will be telling me she makes her own toast next. 555

She may well select people from a presented list compiled by someone else but I doubt she does the research herself. Even if she does she isn't infallible.
