OVF Video: Tony Naylor discusses his favourite goals in 1999

I've been busy converting some VHS tapes into digital format (thanks to Dave Porter for the latest batch).

I'm planning to show Port Vale v Grimsby Town from 1999 next.

While capturing the video,  I've found this snippet which consists of an interview with Tony Naylor, a review of the 1999-2000 season up till that point and a pre-match interview with Brian Horton.

I found it a nice trip down memory lane plus it was great to see a few cracking Naylor goals too:

The FULL NINETY MINUTES of the match itself will be coming soon!

Love any feature that start with "now then"

£20,000 for Naylor, what an absolute bargain...

At the end of the video the strike force for the Grimsby game is Bent and Naylor. What a fantastic strikeforce that could have been had Bent shown anything like the talent and promise he had.. Such a disspointing time at the Vale. Wasn't Bent Rudges last signing?

Yes. A perfect example of a JR signing for me. Talented but underperforming who the Vale could develop - his latter career showed how good he was and JR obviously saw that. Who knows how he could have developed at VP given a couple of seasons under Rudgie.

The Grimsby match will be shown in full one evening in the near future. It's a decent game and better quality than the Kidderminster one (i.e. the Grimsby one has Sky's production values not Vale's inhouse video team's).

Yes that’s correct, Rudge was sacked on the following Monday. I think we made 75k on him but he later had a big transfer
