Match Thread: Crawley Town v Port Vale

Its really pleasing to have players who want to play for us ! Players who want to do it for the fans. Our club after years in the doldrums have owners with vision and passion. Oh so good to be a Vale fan at the moment after so many embarrassing performances where you felt like crawling under a stone.

If we are top 5 and looks like we are going up I cant see players wanting to leave if they are happy at the club and playing L1 next season unless its the championship or money talks

It would have to be club-changing money to let DC go elsewhere. His skills and Carol’s generosity combined is a recipe for years of incremental success, so don’t give it up!

He turned Leeds down at Rovers so if he’s happy and in a good project DC seems the type to stick with it. We prized him away from Walsall because they were selling his best players so a different situation so hopeful we can enjoy the completion of his project.

Plus we know we have great owners and one of the leagues top budgets so imagine he will feel he is backed enough that if we go up he will be given decent enough tools financially to keep us comfortable (compared to maybe similar sized clubs at that level such).

I’d love us to go up and see how this management team and structure did in L1 with giants like Ipswich, Charlton (May pass them though), Bolton, Derby possibly, Portsmouth etc.

If Wycombe or Rotherham can be in there with clubs like that and be real challengers there is absolutely no reason the project could see us do the same under right management and ownership and believe we have those two in place.

There's not much to discuss, just sit back and let Mr Clarke pick his team and tactics. He knows best and I think pretty much everyone has faith in him now.

Liverpool beat Manchester United 5-0 at the weekend and 90% of the discourse is how terrible United were/are. Not much to say about Liverpool other magnificent, keep it up. I can't think of much else to say here other than fantastic work, keep it up everyone.

As for Clarke leaving, as said by others we have great owners and a great set up so it would take a special offer to get him to leave. Micky Adams left for boyhood club Sheffield United in the Championship. Doesn't really compare if Mansfield Town from League Two came in with an offer. Gareth Ainsworth took Wycombe from League Two to the Championship and he's still there. I don't see Clarke leaving us without either something unbelievable happened or of course if everything somehow went to <ovf censored>.
