I just want a forward who has a slightly better average than 1 every 10 or more games as our third or fourth choice. I'd say Cheltenham won the team much more so in spite of him than because of him.

He's basically a not as quick Michael Husbands.

You'd have no idea about that in fairness. Cheltenham won the title at a canter and he was used as a sub on 30+ occasions. He's being used as such for us and won the free kick to set up the equaliser and was part of a 2nd half lineup who scored 4 and won the game, for a team with 7 wins in 9 and 2nd in the table. He's 4th choice and two other forwards were out today. He's fine.

Pope is playing against electricians. Move on.

Even players like Amoo must be fully motivated and behind the project, to come on and play so well and commit to the friendlies etc...

DC's man management means that, if you're not playing, you have to show that you should be when you get the chance. Politic was held back until his fitness was good, then he was given little cameos to prove himself. Amoo is doing the same now, as is Taylor. At some time, they will be a first choice and it will be another player's time to wait...keep fit...show some quality in training and friendlies.

Odd game.

First ten minutes we looked a class above Crawley, after the red card we looked like the side with ten men at periods. At half time I very much had the feel of “one of those days”. Having seen the red on video it is a nailed on sending off so credit to the officials.

Great use of the bench by the manager and ultimately it was a deserved win and could have been more. Usual great free kick from Conlon, lovely finish by Pett and Amoo doing the damage for 3 and 4 (great assist from TC for the 4th).

15 games and 28 points is very pleasing but it means nowt if we don’t continue to work to the same standard. Pleasingly I still think there is more in this side than we’ve seen so far and in the last few weeks we’ve had to cope without a target man in Proctor.

"We won, scored 4, have won 7 in 9, and have won 16 of our last 26, but that 4th choice forward who came on at half-time and was part of a team that scored 4 isn't as good as our Popey!"

Vale fans will find literally anything, I swear.

Wow! Conlon's goal was...exactly what we've come to expect of Captain Tom! Tom Pett's goal was the sweetest stroked shot to just pass the ball into the net. 3rd goal shows the wisdom of firing crosses hard into an area, and Amoo took his goal so well. A great result! UTV

TBF that is what Crosby said in his post match interview, "The sending off helped them more than us."  It was a blow to concede just before half time and you never quite know how we'll come out 2nd half.  Fortunately it was positive, the free kick gave us something to build on, Amoo was great, Taylor too.  Others too of course.

Fantastic win. Love a comeback! Just brilliant from our captain Tom Conlon to get us back in the game. From that point I always thought we get chances, and we emphatically put them away.

Unfortunately, offers are going to come in for Tom. I’d put a £5m price tag on his head to fend off potential suitors. If someone bids that, then I would say that’s good business for the club, and I would say goodbye with a heavy heart.

Fantastic being a Vale fan at present. Long may that continue! UTV.

Good to see ppl talking positive about different players shows we have both strength in depth and every area of the pitch. I do like to see Jake Taylor on the pitch and all this without Super David Worrall.

We've just got a really, really good manager who has now changed several games with half time subs. Our form since he got past his first 7 games is honestly beyond belief.

We have a great recruitment team who largely got the summer recruitment right, supported by the best owner in football.

Honestly never been happier to be a Port Vale fan.

Just out of interest, where you around for the Rudge era?

I think that I was marginally happier then as we had a good few wins against Stoke, and some good results against big clubs.  Also we were playing a couple of divisions higher.

This is up there with the last promotion season under MA, but a bit better because the club (owners and back room) are far superior to what we had back then, as you mention.

Has anybody mentioned yet that Forest Green’s next league game has been called off due to internationals?

Don’t want to jinx anything but a two goal win in front of the TV cameras in a fortnight and… no, I’ve said too much.

Don't worry, I'll be back in the UK for that game so it was already jinxed.

No, too young, Started in 2001 and been miserable since. This is the peak for me.

I always thought he was well liked and respected in the dressing room?

I'm not sad that he's gone. Far from it. Just making the point if I had to make a choice between him and Lloyd to bring off the bench, I'd still opt for Pope. Lloyd might and hopefully will come good, and just might go on to have an excellent career. But as of right now I just think he's not at anything like the level of our other players.

Lloyd was great today… a real outlet and I love his terrier style.

Proctor now plays the Pope role, so we don’t need another one. I wouldn’t swap them.

And that’s before we consider what his influence would be around a manager he hates and DOF he called a scumbag. No thanks.

If, and it’s a big if, we do go up… it will be a measure of the man Tom Pope is as to whether he comes out and admit he was wrong.

Still… long long way to go yet.
