443 would certainly give us an advantage so i am all for that system 😉

To be fair Covalan always keen to push on, so just being accommodated a little higher up the pitch😉👍

To be fair, I couldn’t tell you anything secret from todays training, even if I wanted to. They pretty much just did some light restitution work with the fitness coach, and a few light ball drills. So if anyone could make anything useful out of that, I applaud you 😅

If you’re going to watch training you’re better off seeing them on Tuesday (if there’s no midweek game) or Thursday (if there’s been no midweek game). Because the second day after a game is always light recovery work and so Tuesday and Thursdays are where they’d find more work.

Just looking at other fixtures in league 2 tonight and there are some interesting fixtures:

Harrogate (2nd) v Tranmere (4th)

Leyton Orient (7th) v Forest Green (1st)

Sutton United (5th) v Swindon (6th)

So obviously, teams in and around us will be dropping points tonight.
Three points for Vale tonight could take us up to second and keep a couple of those teams around a few points behind.

You can never tell with the Vale I just hope we are up for it and all eleven firing on all cylinders. After last season double spanking it would be nice to extract some revenge. I take nothing for granted with this game they are no mugs, however another good test for us to see where we are. Come on you whites!

4-0 win tonight

Any more score predictions? I fancy 2-1 myself. I don't think we've quite got that rock solid defence to keep a clean sheet but I think we've got a lot of goals through the team.

Clough is clearly on the ropes and Mansfield are engaging in yet another iteration of 'sign big names and then end up 19th by November', which they're making their trademark. Clough is effectively fighting for his EFL career at this stage.

They seem to love a diamond to fit in all their midfielders, so I'd expect Gibbons and Worrall to have a big impact tonight, as well as Politic if he's deployed.

We'll have our dominant 30 mins at some point and we simply have to bag in that timeframe. I imagine we'll go for a quick start with the intent on demoralising a very unconfident side.

Hate to say it but I'm nervous about tonight... I always remember as a kid the Vale would be struggling near the bottom of the league and then go and turn over a top team to boost our season.

Its lovely that we are now the top team in that scenario, but they have the players to hurt us.

2-2 draw.

Draw would be ok tonight if we then follow up with 3 points against Colchester, wont be easy tonight and they will be desperate to get a result, Quinn is back from a 6 game ban as well so need the midfield three to dominate and keep him quiet.

Think they have bad injuries mainly defensively so have to have the ruthless touch we had on Saturday where we took most big chances we got.

Lets embrace tonight my message to the players is simple you are third in the league your efforts up to yet have deservedly got you there do not freeze go out there and play your normal games home and away .
We have goals galore in us let's not give Mansfield a leg up go out there and put your best in and GO FOR IT .
Win tonight extra 1000 on gate sat draw and play well and still most Vale fans will be content with that .
Lose and it takes all the good work away from saturdays comeback win .
Apply yourselves and bring the 3 points to the mother town .

Think it will be a tight and cagey affair this evening. They are better than what they are currently showing and will be right up for this game, as beating us (one of the form teams) could be a turning point in their season.

I'll go for a 1-1.
