Even Clarke is doing OK with the Vale 4th in the table at a well managed and financed club

Am beginning to understand now why he jumped ship

Any doubters take note, other clubs see what’s happening. Onwards and upwards.

The difference between Walsall owners and ours is that they take money out of the club whereas ours put it in.

Proctor reminds me a bit of Steve Brooker. Not really in his style of play, but more the work he does for the side and that we often looked a better team when he was in it. On paper, Proctor and Rodney could be a fantastic partnership, but at the moment Rodney looks devoid of any confidence and is even more inconsistent than he was at times last season. But surely he will come good, probably just needs one to hit him and go in off his behind.

In his last 10 games, Lucas has:

  • Kept 5 clean sheets
  • Been sent off for losing the ball about 40 yards from goal and hacking his man down
  • Killed the Scunthorpe game by tearing him hamstring running up for a goal kick, healing it, then launching the same kick minutes later without a hint of injury
  • Knocked a forward out clean by launching the ball in his face from 3 yards away
  • Killed the Swindon game by breaking his ankle and then getting back up and taking the free kick without a hint of injury
  • Killed the Harrogate game by getting their best man sent off, a slight nudge prompting immediate medical attention before leisurely getting up and launching the kick without a hint of injury
  • Been sent off for elbowing a player in the face in a pre-season friendly as he faffs about outside his box
  • Been sent up for a corner
  • Kept Hartlepool fans still fuming about a game they won 6 months ago
  • Performed an innovative starfish leap when an attacker bears down on goal

Absolute club legend. Build the statue.

EDIT: Add in his goal for Torquay and him 'putting his broken arm back into place' at Worthing. We'll be lining up in the Premier League in 2030 in Lucas Covolan Park, mark my words.

haha - The "We Love the Lucas statue" count me in - couldnt stop laughing at the hamstring "tear" yesterday - he defies medical science 🙂 - absolute class

Long Live The Lucas

That tom pope interview is starting to sound more and more like sour grapes as the weeks go on. As good as he was for us it was time to move on and that decision has been proven right so far.

Sounded utter piffle as soon as I heard it. I made my mind up instantly that it was a sour grapes bitter interview. Certainly didn't need us to be having a good run to change my stance .

Pity again that not one single thread can keep that name out of posts .

Great atmosphere from the travelling fans yesterday. As Clarkey says we need to be as one, the fans, the players the owners etc.

For the first time in a long time I can feel something building with the club. So many smiles at FT yesterday and professionalism from the players.; It felt like a real 'job done' attitude from them.

For a long time Ive watched the Vale team without any characters to really like and engage with - many just seemed to be 'journeymen' who were plodding along. This team just seems different, with a lot of likable characters who have an identity. You can tell this as many players now have their own songs - something (apart from Pope) we haven't done since the 90's.

Singing amongst the Vale fans pre KO and at half time around the kiosks just show we are actually enjoying going to games again - it feels strange 😆

I also loved the way Wilson acted as cheerleader to the fans, I think he's starting to feel right at home amongst us!

Anyway I'm not getting carried away 😊

Is it me or does DC never play different subs that's a few games in a row he as brought on the same subs and of what I have seen they are ok subs but more of a hang on to what you got subs instead of finish the game subs .

Garrity should never be taken off yet always is no wonder he probably a bit miffed about he always having go off personally I'd leave him on and take Conlon off why take off  a goalscoring threat off especially one who has scored 3 superb goals .

Can understand Gibbo going off and theres no one else but Benning who can play his role and he hasn't lit up the place yet but we live in hope he will at some point .

I personally in games would keep Worrall fresh there's no need run him into the ground and make him play all minutes of the season theres times when a freshen up in his position would be nice see I mean we have Amoo and Politic there twiddling there thumbs  who if anything will be hungry get on and show the Vale home crowd what they can do anyway couldn't we replace Gibbons with Amoo or Politic and move Worrall to the other side in Gibbons role ?.

LLoyd seems like a grafter but I think Amoo in that position would offer us more threat I mean look at his goal v Bolton and two minutes after he is threatening the goal again  with goalie making a fine save from him so i feel at present the subs ain't the right ones although the results will say differently.

I think there's a tendency to become too complacent and sloppy in second half of games at present but it would help if DC chooses the right personnel to come on and takes off players who are not quite to the level they need be for the whole 90.

UTV

I think to be fair mate he's caught between a rock and a hard place.

If he doesn't go like for like and say brings Politic on instead of Taylor and we either lost the lead or lost altogether then he'd be slated .

You can imagine the comments, why did he go attacking when we were cruising etc etc etc.

I do feel for Politic and Amoo but can you bring them on at such a finely balanced time ?

If we had the luxury of being 3-0 up at home we might we'll see them but at the moment he's going like for like to keep the shape and formation.

I was the same mate i thought that it was a bitter interview as soon as i heard it my point was that he's being made to look more of a fool for doing it for how we started the season.

Come on RZ i am sure you are desperate to get back on here on this match thread and congratulate the boys and MANAGEMENT team and maybe even say how DC is making you eat humble pie right now

hahaha...he's said he doesn't come on here to celebrate a win...which is an odd attitude for a so-called fan?
