Match Thread: FLT G1 Bolton Wanderers v Port Vale

Trophy games are back.

A Work out for the Vale Bench at FGR?
A Win bonus would be useful, but game time and avoidance of injury is the priority.
Seem to remember us knocking a few goals in during our last visit.
Preparation for the win against Rochdale a must.

Lots of changes for this whilst still been able to keep a strong starting 11.  For me something like this;

Stone

Gibbons  Cass  Smith   Johnson  Benning

   Conlon   Taylor (if fit)  Garrity

      Rodney  Bailey

8 changes from Saturday, Smith is one of those players that could play 3 times a week no problem throughout the season and also always seems to play in this competition as well.  Benning has been in and out so another start would not do him any harm to try and get up to full match fitness, looked good yesterday I thought.  Garrity looks like he could run all day, great fitness levels shown.  I wanted to get Amoo into the team but playing with 3 or 5 at the back find it hard to see how he breaks in unless Clarke sees him going up top.

If we have a big enough squad to do it then make 11 changes from the team that started Saturdays game. The players that played yesterday deserve a rest and might aswell give game time to fringe players or ones that are coming back from injury. I'm not really bothered even if we lost this game 6 nil league games or fa cup run is more important to me.

Would only play Conlon to get 60 minutes or so into his legs.

No ides really though. But a fair few that played yesterday deserve a full week of rest.

Can we make 11 changes? I wasn't sure if that was allowed in this cup?

There’s lots of different criteria to be allowed to play,one is a player must have played more than about 20 (I think) league games in their career, which would mean most of our squad would qualify.
