Match Thread: Forest Green Rovers v Port Vale

Of 4 games against 20/21 L2 teams we have turned 3 defeats into draws, and a draw into a win, resulting in us being  5 points better off than last season`s matches. So surely we are showing some promise, and it also looks like DC will have his work cut out keeping  a rotation system happy?  Interesting that he had watched FGR 4 times,  seems to have paid off handsomely.

Tom Pett won 19 tackles today… second highest in the league just behind Spearing on 20.

Swarming all over them.

Lincoln used him as a Defensive Mid in their promotion season. He is a cracking player to have in the squad!

Lovely Jubbly.

DC has only lost 7 of his 23 league games… 3 of those were against the teams who got promoted last year and one was a dead rubber at the end of the season.

He has certainly made us harder to beat and that’s a good platform to build on.

Just watched the highlights. What a sublime touch by Wilson for the first and again to set Proctor off for his 25 yard attempt on goal. Think this has the makings of a super partnership.

Also impressed by Garrity who will be disappointed not to have scored from his run on goal set up by Jones's long throw. He's got to think Bergkamp - when you're close on goal, shoot up!

Must have been a great day out, not just for the result but to think that performances like that are going to see us there or thereabouts.

UTV!

He's already played left and right back in a 4 and centre half in a 3.

His throw ins haven't yielded goals yet but one or two will come.

Far better on the ball than I expected, probably our best long passer bar Walker. A really clever acquisition as he was getting overlooked at Salford.

They haven't yielded goals as yet BUT they certainly get us a lot further up the field to relieve any pressure

Just got in to my Devon home. 3:5 hours up and 2 hours back!

Great TEAM performance to a man. We completely gave a fantastic away performance. Everything about us was superb, a joy to travel and watch.

Humour point that made Dan Jones laugh…… “ can we play you every week”

As we were clapping them off I noticed that horrible nasty bloke Clarke, you know the one who nobody wants to sign for because he's so vile.

He got Garrity round the head in a one on one a bit like he did with Manny after the Chesterfield friendly. Clearly telling Garrity how good he'd been and a personal man management.

Apparently he's a terrible bloke though 🎣🎣🎣

He didn’t let Garrity finish his sentence … evil bloke. 😂
