With respect, it's Stevenage. And we shouldn't have won the game, a draw was a fair result over the 90 minutes.

You're certainly a glass half empty guy aren't you? By that comment, I presume you also agree that we should have won both our home league games to date, on the balance of play?

I suppose you could say we shouldn’t have won the game as it should have been all over by half time we could have been 4-1 down and even we wouldn’t have come back to win from there

The one thing we all share is 'hope'. I have been 'hoping' for 65 years so there's no way I won't be 'hoping' until I breath my last.

My concern is the fact that Carol is making an immense effort to bring youngsters into supporting the club.

So at the minute we have over 1,000 new 'hopers' turning up for matches.

But have we got the type of Manager we need to keep those youngsters supporting the club.

Football has changed dramatically and turgid defensive teams who grind out results are not the future.

When questioned on TV after a match at Arsenal once about his team's defensive display a Stoke manager (Durban?) replied if you want entertainment go the circus.

Managers who set up not to lose, rather than score at least one more than the opposition, are not going to make those kids lifetime supporters... They will be off to the circus.

Lots of derogatory remarks about the manager it's not the manager letting players get free pot shots at our goal and anyway every second half he as done his job well as we have being the better side in the games I've seen in all of them up to yet .

The wins will come however if we let opposition players keep on having efforts at our goal draws will always be the  outcome as I saw no resistance from the Vale first half yesterday it was ATROCIOUS how easily Stevenage were getting shots away .

This 45 minute mentality has to change to 90 or else

He’s just posted the truth. There is no way we deserve to win that game. A draw was fair.

I agree that it was the fair result. But my point was not that. It's to see whether he will also accept that we should have won both home games. I suspect that he won't, and that all of his post match comments this season will be:

If we lose - deserved to lose, we were crap

If we draw - didn't deserve that. We should have lost. We were crap.

If we win - didn't deserve that. Very lucky. We were crap.

Fair enough. I thought we deserved a draw but could and probably should have been a couple behind at half time. I do think we deserved to beat tranmere and had the chances to beat Carlisle although I thought a draw was fair

Exactly. The beauty of football, could have, should have, good luck, bad luck. At the end of the season (not four games in) the team that gets in the top three will have earned it.

Only just seen Quest. Didn't realise at the game what an absolutely fantastic save Covolan made pushing it on to the post. Although again his distribution caused the opportunity.

We all want better of course but I do feel the likes of Walker Pett and Benning have far far more than they have shown so far.

Yesterday Walker had some terrible first touches and Pett just huffed and puffed. Maybe the partnership needs time to gel .

How did we get on yesterday didnt manage to watch as was at the races

First half absolutely dreadful. Not in the game, lucky to be still in it.

Garrity for Johnson at half time, change of formation and we played well. Nothing seemed to fall for us.

Overall though considering abysmal first half you have to say a draw was fair

Covolans excellent save from Reid at the very beginning was the catalyst, had that gone in then who knows what would've happened.  Despite his aberration just before half time he had a decent game.

2nd half was so much better, Garrity played high up the pitch and it allowed the entire team to move 20 yards further forward.  Jones and Cass for the most part playing forwards of the half way line.

It was also 37 minutes before Vale were awarded a free kick, only remember that away at Leeds but in that case it was around 40 mins and only a throw in.

I also noted Phil Sproson's remark about Aaron Martin being young and inexperienced.

He also stated that he doesn't know Cov, I think in the Carlisle game.

He's an expert summariser.

It's his job to know the players.

Very disappointing.

He's a wand. Simple as that.

Don’t know why some people are hitting the panic button already. We’ve basically rebuilt our entire squad, it’s going to take time. There’s promising signs with our good defensive record, and we’ve played quite well and just been unlucky. And as others have said, it doesn’t help players to be abusing them in the ground.

Our fans are no different to anyone elses. I've never booed a player inside a stadium and think that's out of order. But it happens every week up and down the country, not just at Port Vale. But there's also people here that throw a bitch fit if you criticise players performances in a place like this, a football forum. It's ridiculous.

I think everybody gets that we should only get better as the season goes along. But there's plenty to be worried and dissapointed about this season early on.
