Bet Victor Predictions

10th?? bet victor used to be on the ball with their football book. Don’t disagree that next season will be more settled, but this season does not look or feel like a transitional one to me. Maybe transitioning to L1.

Most bookies and pundits have us in the 8th-10th region, and at present I can't say that's an egregiously poor call. I'd say it is pretty promising considering we're going to have 7/11 new players in the first game. People obviously rate our business enough to think it won't go fully shambolic despite such mass turnover.

Gab Sutton is pretty accurate in his predictions (he got us wrong for the last two years, but I think even Vale fans were surprised on both occasions, and the rest of his predictions were broadly accurate). He does a lot of research and knows his stuff.

I do enjoy this time of year as about 22 of the 24 clubs think they're nailed on for 'top 10, pushing playoffs', that their business has been good ("rebuild" = loads of signings, "stability" = few signings), and it means there will be a load of crushing disappointment to enjoy come November when the bleak realisation sets in that your team isn't very good, you're not going up, and its another year in this tinpot affair.

Not The Top 20's predictions are out tomorrow, which are equally good.

Walsall are impossible to call as they have a rookie manager. Wilkinson is a good signing, as is Labadie if he can stay fit. They're very excited about the young goalkeeper, Rushworth, who they signed from Brighton, but the rest of the business seems fairly average.

I think that 8-10 is about right... we do have a chance to push on but it depends on a lot of factors.

The new structure at the club is a long term investment, and needs to be viewed as such.

People will start moaning their sacks off if we don't get promotion next year.

The harsh reality is if we can go 2 straight years without threat of relegation then that's a significant improvement on our recent history.

Yes we should be absolutely aiming higher than that, and I think we will achieve it.... but it may take a year or two to kick in.

Part of the plan is finding people to develop and sell in order to generate funds to reinvest in the team, so a few cycles of that will be needed before the plan is purring.

We need to be right up near the top 7, and making signings that are designed to make us successful in the long-term, for this season to be successful. I hate to put quantitative criteria in place but anything short of 10th is a disappointment.
