Vales goal for those who didn’t see it

I’ve only seen Wilson in the Forest friendly and thought he was fairly anonymous. Fantastic to hear he played well today and the goal oozes quality.

With Wilson and Rodney we pose a threat from distance, as well as up close, which certainly gives opposition teams something to think about. Really hope Wilson scores early in the season, as I think if he gets on a roll, we could have a real player on our hands at this level.

Rodney not in the team must be saving him for next week or maybe its just a kick up the rear and a telling kick up the ass to no matter how talented you are you not undroppable.

Legge back I see and  leading good in my opinion .

Wilsons goal a cracker and Proctor seemingly involved in everything we did and playing a big part in goal.

Only seen that the sending off I haven't seen but we still held on so pleased with that .

Well done Vale

It's all about a gradual build up to next week. The real deal at Sixfields .

Personally not bothered if Wilson anonymous against a Championship side or scores 4 at Kidsgrove ( hypothetical ) .

It's all about fine tuning things and looking at formations and fitness .

Criticism of Benning also bewildering to me .

Can't wait to get on that train next Saturday and see the lads .

Hopefully all singing from the same hymn sheet , supporting Clarke and ALL of the players .

Be lovely for us not to have any scapegoats until at least September 🤣🤣

To follow on (didn’t see the game) did Wilson and Proctor link better than Wilson and Rodney?

Difficult to say at this stage which is the best combination. Wilson and Proctor definitely played well together today and I was pleased to see what good control and lay-off Proctor has. The difference between Proctor and Rodney is that Rodney will get more goals but then how many more would Wilson get playing with someone who's going to consistently lay off chances for him? It's a nice selection problem to have but good to know it looks like we have two good pairings.

How many seasons is it since we could say that?

I thought that was strange. Jury out I think reading comments it could be down to the referee report.

My reading of the rules posted earlier is that there has to be a charge of misconduct following the game (so brought either by a complaint from the club, which is unlikely; or by the Referee in his report, which is certainly possible as the incident happened right in front of the Assistant on the line). It then goes to a Regulatory Commission (whatever that is) which has absolute discretion to impose a further sanction on top of the sending off.

We'll have to see...

A few interesting comments from Chesterfield fans. Ranging from Vale are very poor to it would be no surprise if we are playing them next season !!!

Imagine that, fans overreacting to a friendly that means nothing where players aren’t flying around like they normally would.
