Match thread: Kidsgrove Athletic v Port Vale, friendly 3/7/21

Interesting to hear Crosby’s comments after the game:

So, yes we are going to need strikers to score goals if we are going to be successful. We have to get goals from other areas of the pitch. But if the strikers we have got, and the strikers we are going to add, can get a large amount then we are going to be competitive.”

So it looks as if they are trying to line up a couple more strikers, which is great news.

Could be an interesting week next week 🙂👍.

Like has been said, dirty game and Kidsgrove should be thankful that Vale give them a little boost in pre-season. I would be taking my business elsewhere if your going to fly in like a play off game and potentially injure our players.

good point, but you would expect fulltime pros to be able to look after themselves:lecture:😉:drink:

One or two posters seem to suggest it was a dirty game, far from it.  There were one or two robust challenges on both sides.  The Kidsgrove guy who was subbed off by the ref had reacted to Wozzas challenged on him rather than committed  a bad tackle.

Overall the game looked what it was, a very early preseason friendly.

The number 11 kicked out at Wozza after a challenge - a bit like Beckam but harder. The ref came over to their bench and said that it was a red card and he should be taken off but they could bring another player on. He didn’t show the red card, just told the bench to take him off. He’s already been putting himself about a bit before that foul.

Not bothered about the result and glad Kidsgrove made it hard for us ,pre season is about getting to where you need be which is fit working on formations that can when kick off v Northampton be effective and nullify the opposition .

The only good thing about pre season is putting coffers in the small clubs I mean we have Notts forest at home be surprised if gate is over 1500 so for there be over 1000 there yesterday is terrific for Kidsgrove

Not the first time we’ve seen this in a preseason game from memory. I think it’s happened before down at the Grove, but could be wrong.  Anyway I’d fully expect everyone to be fired up for their first game in front of fans after a long layoff, so a little bit of youthful over exuberance can be excused in my book.

Remember Andy Porter getting taken off in a preseason friendly for not understanding the word friendly. Sure it was against a foreign side.

Yes I remember Andy Porter .  He was just like a jack Russell . Running around . Wonderful player for the vale .
