The CEO has also left while McGreal said his job was "untenable" as he wouldn't be able to build a competitive side.

I strongly suspect this sentence in the Mirror's report of the departure is the key to it all 😉

Owner Lee Power is currently facing FA charges regarding the ownership and funding of the club.

I had a look at their squad with eye on whether Vale could pick up any bargains if Swindon go bump. Not a nice thing, but that's how football works.

The official club site's squad page is out of date but the one on Wikipedia shows how threadbare they are at the moment. It makes our squad look positively bursting at the seams... at least we've got two goalkeepers 😉

Apparently McGreal had agreed deals with numerous players that couldn't be announced due to the ownership issues. You would imagine that they are now looking for deals elsewhere.

“As mentioned earlier this week, we have signings ready to be announced, however the legal proceedings involving the ownership has not allowed us to do so, making our positions at the club untenable.”

Lee Power is supposedly gone as he has been compelled in court to have to offer to sell shares at a certain price, new owner to come in, not as in trouble as they looked this time last week. Hopefully the massive disruption cripples them next season and they don't get in our way.

My understanding is a judge has ordered Power to sell shares at a specific price point to an Australian property developer called Clem Morfuni, who their fans generally like but I have seen a comment or two from fans making insinuations about the property developer bit.

Power has appealed as he wants to sell instead to some group called ABLE, his grounds for appeal being they apparently already have a controlling stake in the businesses somewhere higher up in the complicated web of ownership companies.

That appeal has been granted and every day it drags on is causing obvious huge issues for the club with no manager, the CEO and DOF resigned, June salaries weren’t paid, now this rent arrears thing has come out. It’s not the first time, there’s a clip on YouTube of high court bailiffs at the ground a few years ago.

If this drags on then it might get to a point before the season starts where the FA lets players move their registration/leave due to breach of contract and suddenly an interesting addition or two to the Vale squad has become available.
