What our 11 should be against Croatia, in my opinion - Pickford, James, Stones, White, Shaw, Rice, Bellingham, Mount, Foden, Sterling, Kane

What Southgate's 11 will likely be - Pickford, Walker, Stones, Mings, Chilwell, Rice, Phillips, Mount, Foden, Sterling/Rashford, Kane

Good call Rob...

I can’t quite believe the first game is on Sunday!

Phil Foden getting a Gazza cut has raised the excitement levels in my house considerably! Let’s hope he gets the chance to play!

Think Grealish could be our new Gazza , has to play , as does Foden.

Pickford

James. Stones. White. Shaw

Rice. Bellingham

Grealish Mount Foden

Kane.

I’d go with that. Coady can’t play in a back 2 and Mings is rubbish. Think we will play a back 5 though. With James or Walker moving into the middle. I do think trippier could also start. No doubt super raheem Sterling and rashford will start, I think they’re both very lucky to be included in the squad. Especially Sterling.

Agree that they're both quite lucky to make the squad, but Sterling is absolutely rapid and has elite level movement. So even when not on form he's still someone no opponent will want to play against. I think it's a certainty that he will start, as Harry Kane, leaving one other position to fill between Foden, Grealish and Rashford. Whoever starts, one thing for sure is that we will have one heck of a strong bench. Much, much better than it was in 2018.

Thirty years of hurt, never stopped me dreaming. However 50+ years of hurt has.  I am fortunate enough to remember our 1966 win as a football mad 8 year old.  Tend to find myself now on a downward curve as regards excitement as each tournament approaches and England invariably disappoint. Of course I will watch the games but for me will very much have the feel of watching the Vale in the EFL cup.

England have some special players at the moment but my concern is that Southgate isn't a good enough tactician to play the players that play best with each other. He somehow has to find a way to play Kane, Grealish, Mount, Bellingham and Foden together and not to play too defensively.

Sterling is either out of form or Southgate doesn't know his best role so he's on the bench for me.

I am bringing this thread back to what it was about - Euro 2020.

If you want to debate Black Lives Matters and the support for/against it then please do it on a separate thread.

This thread was supposed to be about the football tournament and has gone completely off on a tangent.

Messages (and replies to messages) off topic are now being removed.

Thanks.

Sorry.

Grealish, Foden and Kane have to play which means Sterling sits on the bench. Disagree with the comments about Coady, he has played well this season among an awful defence at Wolves and won’t be surprised if he’s playing at Liverpool next season. Southgate is too negative and if sacked would not be chosen by any premiership club to manage. On paper, we have a squad good enough to compete but I don’t think we will get past the last 16 if even that far.

If all fit:

Pickford (☹️)

Trippier Maguire Stones Shaw

Mount Rice Bellingham

Sancho Kane Foden/Grealish (genuinely happy either way).

Sancho has to start as he's a) very good and b) the only natural right winger

What I envisage with injuries etc:

Pickford

White Stones Mings

Trippier Rice Mount Chilwell

Sancho Kane Grealish
