This is what I have being saying all along 214 appearances for the Vale since 2016 2017 season I'd like know how many of them have being defeats draws and wins .

Same as the entire team. Because he never gets suspended, hardly ever injured and only once or so dropped. Your argument would apply to the entire set of players we have under contract. Rodney, get rid, we finished lower this season with him than without him last. See what I mean?

Smith is indeed worse when the rest of the defence are worse. That is true. He struggled at left CB when Crookes was dire at LB. So maybe Smithy is not super human at covering for others' garbage.

Face it though man. You just have a thing against him.

No not at all I just think in general we have being rubbish for years and he is the only mainstay which is left of the rubbish so credit to him for that ,every manager seems to like him so that's all that matters not my opinion nor yours and credit to you for liking his performances and believing he too be deserving on being in the team going forwards .

I believe if we are too move forwards and achieve anything of note then he must only be a squad player ,no more .

On the case of young Rodney I'd sell him he as explosive talent but then he spends a good majority of the games I've seen him contributing little to nothing bar the odd five mins .

I hope these players who have being kept even the likes of Conlon can consistently play better Smith ain't the only one even Worralls inept at times .

UTV keep up your fine support

Consistent players are usually found in the Championship and above, Rodney is a development prospect who hopefully will command a much larger transfer fee in a season or two. Smith is a supporting defender, there will usually be a taller leading defender maybe even another of the same who will push him on the bench or become a Joyce replacement, who knows?

Many of us felt a connection to the likes of Scott Brown, Montano and Luke Joyce. Every time I saw their faces I made the connection to the bottom half of League Two and embarrassing defeats to clubs like Barrow.

Perhaps a tad harsh? Certainly on Brown, who’s been a good player for us, both on and off the field.

I don't think we need to sign a 20 goal striker. In my opinion we need a striker who can be a foil for Rodney and lead the line plus a midfield/striker who can play in between the lines dribbling at defenses with the ability to play passes in behind for Rodney. If we do that and Rodney stays fit there is no doubt in my mind he is a 20+ goal season player next season. My budget would be spent on a LW who can create and score goals and a very technical AM who can get on the ball and make us play then go from there for the striker partner.

I'm expecting us to be a very different possession based team next year which suits having as player like Rodney as the 9.

Agree totally - I think DC has dropped enough hints that he wants goals from across the team - get 3 or 4 in double figures and the opposition doesn't know who to mark for the best.  This is not beyond us, now, with the players we've retained - sign another 2 or 3 like Conlon, Worrall, Rodders...and, hopefully, Taylor and Hurst step up and this could negate the need for a scorer of plenty of goals, who, if they sustain an injury leaves the teams struggling.

The year is 2031. Nathan Smith has just played his 700th game for Port Vale, who are now in the Championship. "Get rid, Stokie rubbish" claimers breadwinner, "we'd be in the Premier League if we'd have sacked Smith".

Nah it’s spot on

Well it might be true for him but I'd suggest that if every time you see Brown,  you think of the bottom half of league two then you're a bit of a tool. Isn't the OP the guy who looks like Jeff Lynne and used to wave his little homemade Achilles Campion flag around?

Have we signed anybody yet ??emoji848.png

Probably think players   contracts run out soon so there is a possibilty theres a few who have already agreed to sign I think David flitcroft will know a fair few good uns that Mayer from Plymouth would be a good start  a top top player .

Then build a team around him Conlon legge and Worrall

I don't want to keep getting at you but why would you want to build a team around a 36 year old centre half who already showed warning signs of dramatically slowing down last season? Would many people have really been that bothered if he was transfer listed?

If we sign Danny Mayor I'll have my picture taken in a Stoke top and you can throw custard pies at me

Don’t know you but as a fellow vale fan do it for charity and I’ll happily donate. Plus I’ll bring my own custard pie 😂
