Favourite Port Vale Goals

Tony Naylors could have been Blackdogs 2nd choice, but from what i remember he picked it up near the half way line dodged a couple of defenders then scored, he was something else Tony was...

and Keith Houchen lobbed the goalie from the half way line, but what makes me remember it was as soon has he kicked it he put his arm up, he knew it was going in...

Bogie's against i think sjoke at Vale, most of the lardies were still at the food bar... ilived off that at work for weeks...

Tom Pope vs Rotherham away in 2012/13. It was in front of a big Vale following, there were a load of people dressed as the Pope, it was a top of the table game, it was a Xmas game, it was the first visit to a brilliant stadium and it would have wound Fatty Evans up no end. Lovely.

Great thread.  Seems to split out into goals that were important, like the promotion/staving off relegation goals, or the absolutely wonderful goals like Naylor's against Sunderland.  What a player Tony Naylor was.

If I had to choose my top 3, it would be Robbies goal against Bristol Rovers to get us up - which is somewhere in the middle of the Venn diagram for crucial and technically very good.  Ray Walker's goal against Tottenham is something I will take to the grave - a wonderful strike which was technically brilliant and arguably launched a new era for the vale because of the money we made. And I was right behind it, watching from the Lorne Street, which helped.  And more recently, Pope's goal at Man City was also a very good goal technically - a sweeping cross field pass from Joyce, Gibbons down the wing to Amoo, and one of those crosses that Tom was always going to bury. Any Premiership team would have been proud of that goal against that opposition.  I was very proud of the Vale that day.  But there are so many others that are burned into my mind.  Kevin Kennerly's strike which hit the underside of the bar and went in against Billy Bremner's Hull in an FA cup replay anyone? Or is that pushing it a bit too far back?

So many great ones mentioned.

Few I remember fondly; Tony Naylor with his back to goal against Birmingham with a swivelled half volley that curved into the far corner.

Allen Tankard's swerving long ranger at home to Tranmere

Ady Littlejohn's home and away to Sheff Wed in 2004, both storming strikes

McPhee's 2nd against Swindon at home, it's frightening how good he was.
