Transfer rumours, targets & new signings

Another great signing from the team. This is an interesting one, could have stayed at Hartlepool, in the North East, close to home, from the supporter's reaction he was universally liked and was consistent but has chosen to come to Vale amongst competition. I know everyone has their personal choices of who they would have liked to have brought in, but you cannot fault this recruitment drive over the summer.

"If you've loaned Cass and don't start him, you must have the best back four/five in the league, I'm telling you, this lad is the cat's pyjama's.

I'm both envious and incredibly jealous in equal measure"

"Cass is brilliant, he just signed a new three year deal with the Mags, can play RB and CB but looks loads better as a CB, honestly you need to see this kid play, he’s gonna be a Newcastle starter in a few years time, bank on it"

Seems excellent cover for Gibbo. Pools fans seem gutted he didn't sign on for them again.

Newcastle have high hopes of him becoming a first-teamer in the future so he clearly has ability. While no signing is a guaranteed success, this looks a solid bit of business.

Maybe I’m in the minority and see him as a squad signing, I’m really don’t get how some people go overboard about us essentially developing someone else’s players.

Probably as we've added a good player in a position of need. People are understandably pleased about this.

We wouldn't be able to attract a lad of this talent usually so a loan benefits all.

I suppose it depends on how much they feature and the experience that the player has.

If things go well on their loan it would imply that they have made a meaningful contribution.

If things don't work out at their parent club they may take your offer of a contract over one on similar terms elsewhere either shortly after the loan or at some point in their career.

If they speak well of their time at the Vale any players they play with or that have the same agent may take this into account when pondering a move.

Whilst there are benefits on the pitch there are also benefits from networking. I think some of the more recent loans we have had may sing the clubs praises, I know he has signed now but stories like the one with Jake Taylor and his car will have gone down much better than ones like Norman feeding them with leftover pies.

Just need a left winger and a striker.

I’m pretty sure you’re right we’ll sign Solanke and I wouldn’t be surprised if Bailey unexpectedly found himself as the fourth striker. That would just leave a left winger and, given Hurst is also one for the future, perhaps DC has found another top player on that left-hand side.

We’ll see but it’s looking good so far.

Not started a league game and not scored a goal. They must be over the moon!

"Unless I am missing something somewhere or he is coming as a cheap squad player/back up to Player X …its a bit underwhelming to me

In his career he has 5 games for the Mighty Hudd and no goals"

Not really.

Thanks for doing these updates.

Genuinely not being picky but Amoo can also play LW . Him and Worrall often played in the 4-3-3 18 months ago.

I'm not overly concerned if we don't get one in . I get Amoo not everyone's cuppa but he's not awful is he .
