Owing to past disciplinary issues ruling out Vigouroux then Ward and King could be good shouts for goalkeepers.

GK Ward/KIng

RB Gibbons/Clark

CB Smith/Martin/Sweeney/Kelleher

LB Jones/Johnson

RW Worrall/Amoo

LW Hannant/Hurst

CM Walker/Conlon/Taylor/Garrity

FW Rodney/Wilson/Gordon/Oates

Plus Legge/Nevitt

Of note that both Jones and Johnson can play left centre back and both Hannant and Hurst can play left wing back if it is to be 3/5/2 and Worral can play in a midfield three....expect Legge to be a fringe player at 36 this season and if Nevitt is 21 worth a look but if 25 probably not.Looks a balanced 22 plus old man Legge and the non-league chancer and while Vigouroux would be a great signing there seems to be some bad history so unlikely but Ward and King would be two good keepers with experience at a good age and giants.Clark back on a season long loan with a view to make it permanent in January would be good business while Sweeney and Kelleher would be excellent centre back signings and the versatile Johnson would complete the squad of defenders. Not sure about Gordon and Oates as strike options could do better.

Is where we are currently with still about 8-10 signings to go. Not bad. This leaves the likes of Worrall on the bench too.

Can’t see that personally. Back 5 and a Cdm

Because I think we can do better, having been linked with Benning and, to me, he doesn't look like an upgrade on Monty. I'd be delighted if he proved me wrong!

I would love us to sign Benning but cant see it now... rumours Gillingham and a number of League 1clubs are after him.

Keep the faith youth... Jones played well in that game and although wozza was free for the goal, if you watch it back jones' centre halves were all over the shop meaning he had to cover more than 1 position. Wozza took advantage of a brilliant ball.

Harrogate offered him a deal and their fans wanted him to stay so he was doing something right.

Jones can play left back and left centre back in a three for 3/5/2 but the long throw is certainly a good weapon to have in the armoury.......if the Hannant rumour is true then both Hannant and Hurst can play left wing back in a 3/5/2......if the other left back signing is Benning that hints at 4/4/2 but if it is Johnson who like Jones can play left back and left centre back then that smacks of a continuation of the 3/5/2 system.

So far the back four of Gibbons/Smith/Martin/Jones still needs a couple of centre backs and full back cover Clark/Sweeney/Kelleher/Johnson would be good signings.

Another day, another solid signing, another piece in the puzzle.

I'd really like to see a right-footed version of Jones come in now, to provide cover/competition for Gibbo if playing 4 at the back, and cover/competition for Smith on the right of a back 3. Other than that, we need a left-footed centre-back (Johnson), and an attacking LB, and for me that's the defence sorted, with all options covered -

Back 4 - Gibbo/New R(C)B      Smith/Martin        Martin/Johnson        Jones/New L(W)B

Back 3/5 - Gibbo      Smith/New R(C)B    Martin/Legge    Johnson/Jones     New L(W)B

We'd even have emergency cover in all positions - at full-back from Smith and Johnson, at wing-back from Hurst, Worrall (and potentially whoever else we sign on the wing) and at CB in a back 4 from Legge.

Winning.
