I really hope this lad doesn't read this site.

Anyway, just in case you do, welcome to the Vale George. I hope your stay will be both happy and productive - both for you and the club.

It's more positive and balanced than the majority of the sites. I had to leave a couple of the FB sites for example, now they are something special.

I agree.

There are better, more considered, responses on here, which do stand out.

Quite impressed with his hold up strength on that little video. It looks like there is an almighty scramble for strikers going on so although not DC’s first choice, hopefully he adds to our match day options. If we can stay defensively solid those striking combinations can be developed from a good base. Good luck George and welcome to the Vale.

I can understand initial disappointment at the fact he hasn't got much experience, but we were looking for a lad to support Wilson, Rodney, and Proctor, who also offers something we don't currently have and won't have high wage/playing time demands.

He seems to have played that exact role in the majority of the title-winners games last season. He actually appears to have started 15+ games last year so they obviously rate him as they were in the midst of a title challenge, starting 7 of their first 8 and then got a nasty head injury, and was in and out subsequently.

The hope is that he can bring whatever he offered to Cheltenham last season and improve his end product. A Ben Williamson-type role, with 7-8 goals and being utilised in late games, would be very useful.

(I moan as much as anyone, but this pre-emptive, predictive moaning is making me cross. Let stuff happen, and if it's bad, give those responsible justified hellfire. Stop with this Nostradamus nonsense).

Clip below reminds me very strongly of a poster on here, as well as about 87% of the 'Wonder of Port Vale'.

Clarke spoke on Sky Sports - hoping to move three out and looking for a fill in for Leon, but he said he might have to go to the out of contract market if nothing happens today.

I'm surprised he hasn't scoured this forum or the Wonder of You group. He will find plenty of people that insinuate they could do a better job on the pitch.

                    You would think so

Whats the difference in paying him off or paying him to the end of the season. Either way we are still paying him.

Paying him to the end of the season would incur NI and other expenses,  whereas doing a deal now would be less.

On the outgoing players, it's all gone quiet on the Colchester Utd front. However, Hartlepool say they want two strikers and have made approaches for two players. There's nothing to suggest it's Robinson and I suspect his wages may be too much for them but it's a club looking for a striker on deadline day....

Even if we end up paying 75% of Theo and Whitehead's wages, we'd still be saving 25% compared to them rotting with the youth team here. I feel sorry for Burgess, he's done well at times and is young. Whitehead and Theo need to be gort rid of though.

Nobody else will be offering him a wage anywhere near what we did, especially if it’s 2k a week like a previous poster said.

He will sit that out.

You have absolutely no idea what other clubs will / won't / can't do! But - until the transfer deadline ends...TONIGHT...we live in hope!
