Maybe I’m in the minority and see him as a squad signing, I’m really don’t get how some people go overboard about us essentially developing someone else’s players.

I suppose it depends on how much they feature and the experience that the player has.

If things go well on their loan it would imply that they have made a meaningful contribution.

If things don't work out at their parent club they may take your offer of a contract over one on similar terms elsewhere either shortly after the loan or at some point in their career.

If they speak well of their time at the Vale any players they play with or that have the same agent may take this into account when pondering a move.

Whilst there are benefits on the pitch there are also benefits from networking. I think some of the more recent loans we have had may sing the clubs praises, I know he has signed now but stories like the one with Jake Taylor and his car will have gone down much better than ones like Norman feeding them with leftover pies.

GK Covalan/Stone

RB Gibbons/Cass

CB Smith/Martin/Johnson/Legge (Lennon)

LB Benning/Jones

RW Worrall/Amoo

DM Walker/Pett/Solanke

AM Conlon/Taylor/Garrity

LW Hurst (Dyer)

ST Rodney/Wilson/Proctor

Just need a left winger and a striker.

I’m pretty sure you’re right we’ll sign Solanke and I wouldn’t be surprised if Bailey unexpectedly found himself as the fourth striker. That would just leave a left winger and, given Hurst is also one for the future, perhaps DC has found another top player on that left-hand side.

We’ll see but it’s looking good so far.

Not started a league game and not scored a goal. They must be over the moon!

"Unless I am missing something somewhere or he is coming as a cheap squad player/back up to Player X …its a bit underwhelming to me

In his career he has 5 games for the Mighty Hudd and no goals"

Not really.

Thanks for doing these updates.

Genuinely not being picky but Amoo can also play LW . Him and Worrall often played in the 4-3-3 18 months ago.

I'm not overly concerned if we don't get one in . I get Amoo not everyone's cuppa but he's not awful is he .

Ppl are mentioning that he’ll be back up for Gibbo, can’t parent clubs place a clause in the loan contract that the player has to play a certain percentage of games.? I don’t know and this is a question not a statement

I think they can PA but knowing the single mindedness of Clarke I wouldn't expect such an agreement.

Can't see Gibbons featuring for maybe first 6 or so games and with most of our signings he's versatile.

I expect him to play 20 plus games easily at RB or as a centre half.

Good that Newcastle see us as a viable option as our recent track record with loanees is terrible.

Remember the Brown season we had so many they we couldn't even pick some on the bench.

Clark did well obviously but other than him I'm struggling.

He's more of a right sided CB than a RB, so I think it's Smith who he'll be providing competition for. I don't think we've fought off a number of other clubs and convinced a Premier League side to loan us their U23 captain so that he can sit on our bench.

We certainly look very well stocked in those defensive areas (on paper) with lots of flexibility around formations.

He was good for me in his first season, last season he never looked fit. Disrupted pre-season and never seemed to catch up. The ability is there.

Smithy usually plays left side CB.
