I believe you may be disappointed if you think we’ll make another 5 signings. The budget will start to run dry before then as we are paying higher wages than we were and rumour has it, much of what’s left will go on another forward. It’s more likely we will get another 2-3 in, then top up with a couple of loans in August.
However, in general, the new arrivals are improvements on what we had - the only exceptions are the keeper and Pope position but I maybe pleasantly surprised.

There is money there for whatever signings we want to make but i agree that we are likely to see 2 or 3 more possibly decent ones and then a couple of young lads to nurture and as you say we could make use of the loan market also but DC did say any loans would have to be ones with a chance to take them on after it otherwise whats the point which makes sense i guess. It could all change though if the 3 Amigo's leave

No chance with Mullin(imagine if we had signed him last summer,be in meltdown on here) Andrade maybe but others are interested.

I was trying think of other decent strikers yesterday who were out of contract and came up with Brown who was at colchester(but he didn't impress me really and has now gone Exeter),then there is Oldhams McAleney who i dont think has signed anywhere,i wouldn't mind him tbf but other than that i cant think of any

McAleny would be a good addition, but I think there will be plenty of others after him as he scored 20 last season in a poor team.

Good question mate.

I'd actually like Sentinel to ask if there's a specific reason as he's the marquee signing in my book.

A few people including myself mentioned and reasons were suggested.

I'd like to hear the thinking behind it from Vale or Benning because he's exactly the type for a two year deal.

Of course there's nothing to suggest he won't be here for 3 years but personally I'd of loved a 2 year deal for this lad

I dont know but my guess would be Vale get promoted he gets a 2yr deal,he had interest from league one but chose us so i guess he knows he can play there

That's what I'm saying mate

We are guessing. Maybe the question should be posed by the Sentinel ?

Only the two parties know obviously.

It is absolutely a step down. Two steps in fact.

Clearly money motivated.

Play for Oldham in front of decent crowds v Bradford, Tranmere etc or Fylde v  Farsley Celtic and Guiseley.

It's an absolute no brainer football-wise it's Oldham all day. Can't blame Joyce for lining his pockets at his age. But he should stroll that league with his eyes shut.

Regardless of money it is a huge drop down the pyramid with some games being akin to The Dog and Duck. Whatever floats your boat i guess.

I agree - Joyce, like Brown, is one of the names the discontented keep saying we should have retained - but neither have moved onto better things...probably proving DCs point of letting them go?

Many do not agree but that is 19 players and squads are 24 this season so five signings to go and obviously two strikers are needed and a left winger but also two defenders as cover on the right side of defense so a RB and a RCB.

Has this been superseded? "(ii) in Season 2021/22 and each subsequent Season, 20 Players of which a minimum of 8 must be a Home Grown Player."

EFL Official Website - Section 6 - Players

In any case - is this a maximum squad size, rather than a mandatory one?

Still active so far as I can see. PFA were kicking off about it. Can't see any reports confirming that it's been removed
