Goal scoring midfielder - share those goals around lads. If the Benning story has substance, the squad is looking much stronger now.  I like the fact that we are signing leaders who will be missed by their clubs as well - lots of comments from fans losing players to us as to how disappointed they are.  Welcome to the Vale Tom.

That’s a quality signing. Really good player and proven at this level. He will definitely start with Conlon and then either Taylor / Walker.

Taylor has got to hit the ground running or his Vale career could be over before it starts.

Barely featured under Clarke, huge season for him.

Really good player let's hope we see the best of him.

55 career goals from central midfield age 29.....not bad for what essentially seems like that other defensive holding midfielder along with Walker that the squad needed......with Conlon/Walker/Garrity/Taylor all being early mid twenties an older head in the central midfield pool is as welcome as it is astute.

Observation on Michael Lennon and Ammar Dyer......

Lennon is apparently 6'1" age 20 and a left footed centreback so could be usefull squad back up.

Dyer is 18 only 5'8" but a quick tricky left winger.

Cracking signing, proper heartbreaker for Stevenage, smaller player but one who won't back down from a challenge, etc.

That's the replacement for Manny in CM then, and can play deeper, so it's less pressure on a 2nd DM (which can now be a player to develop). If Benning signing is true, that leaves us just a striker (and possibly RB) short of the main squad, with a couple of youths to add for cover/development.

Midfield two of Pett/Walker and Conlon (with Garrity and Taylor as cover), midfield three of Pett/Garrity    Pett/Walker    Conlon.

Crikey.

I think if anything this squad is going to be highly competitive. All of them will need to be on top form else they will be out. Can only be a good thing.

Pett and Conlon as a two is as good as you will get in this league. Add The Taylor of old to that and we have to be right up there. Maybe garrity is more of a development player? Guess we will play a 3 with Walker sitting behind colon and pett? Taylor and garrity as back up / development players

Totally agree.

In the recent past we have had no options, for example when Joyce missed we were snookered.

This squad is shaping nicely.

Only a week ago people were worried it was all going pear shaped.

Really good business we are doing.
