It’s actually the sort of stuff Vale managers have been saying since 1876 (or whatever the disputed day on formation).

It does come down to money and yes our budget isn’t fabulous these days but then I don’t remember when it was?

"The new owners have come in and backed every single manager to the hilt, none more so than this season coming. Everything that managers have asked of Carol, she has said yes. They are going to have one of the biggest budgets in the league next year, on the field and off the field."

Not sure where the idea that we're little old Port Vale scraping by on a shoestring budget has come from.

I'm sure we could have got Vigoroux if we wanted him. But as Iron Curtain said Flitcroft really doesn't like him so it was never going to happen.

They might have already agreed to come but not been announced yet?

I guess so, I mean that Johnson guy from Hartlepool is yet to be announced. Still, not really a budget breaker.

I dont think any apart from maybe wilson have been budget breakers but is that the way to go or not? I am quite happy to build a squad without breaking the bank for someone,we paid a fee for Garrity but that wont of been a lot tbf.

Could some of the budget be being kept incase we pay off the 3 amigos or pay a fee for another target? maybe even to give a go in January if we are up there

For me i think we will still bring in 2 forwards, competition at LB/RB(maybe one player),a couple of wide players maybe then there will still be a couple of places to spare there but we have to remember that some will be younger lads to try and nurture.

I see James Clarke (Walsall captain) has joined Newport. Having played under DC at Salisbury, Bristol & Walsall I thought he was nailed on.

What has surprised me so far is that none of the signings(apart from one who i think was at salisbury) have played for DC or DF before

Was thinking the same or his age against him but he's the same age as Martin.

Gordon, McDonald, Clarke and Scarr were all I felt potential signings with the connection. Most managers dip into the well of players they know.

Maybe it's a good thing who knows that we've swerved that

Why does that suprise you?

Most managers seem to do that ?

I can give two terrible examples

Kingsley James

Danny Whitehead

Many managers go for tried and trusted players and DC has done it before.

I think that's why he's surprised and so am I

I know that most managers try to sign players they know and have had before, I suspect there are a limited number who would want to play for him again.

I was merely going back to your point about the next few weeks potentially being interesting, not suggesting that we break the budget.
