What had Alnwick done before he came here?

Played Premier League football and capped for England U17 and U18.

Covalan has been capped for Brazil U20s.

"Adams will also be looking to add more creativity and unpredictability to the team in the final third, and it’s been reported that Bradford are ‘leading the chase’ to sign Ben Whitfield, who has starred for Torquay in non-league.

With Swindon and Exeter also credited with an interest, signing the player would be a coup for Adams and it would also see Whitfield link up with the club he was at as a youngster."

Bradford certainly doing some business. Good luck with his ego.

13 appearances (6 for Newcastle) over 4 years is hardly proven though is it, which is my point. He could be as good as Alnwick for us, he could be as bad as Boot. We won't know until he plays.

"But then came a moment of real controversy at the other end.

Covolan claimed a cross from the Fleet right but then jumped into Deering, knocking the little midfielder to the floor. Referee Alan Dale pointed to the penalty spot and, after a moment's deliberation, sent the goalkeeper off."

Can't find the match report of the other game but fair enough, seems he probably got two red cards in a season. At least one of them seems like a controversial one.

so he comes for crosses. good.

Is a keeper from approx 15 places below us in the pyramid a gamble ?

Not for me.

I don't think so. He's been a key part of a promotion campaign that fell at the last hurdle, in a competitive league.

Though Ryan Boot did keep more clean sheets than him last season.....

"I remember the 3 keepers we had between the sticks in the 2nd half of the 2016/17 season after Jak Alnwick left, it was scary and one of those was unproven with a Championship club."

Was one of them Roos? He has spent a lot of time since then as Derby's first choice keeper.

Im not sure being in a promotion chasing side in that league matters. We signed Fitzpatrick and whitehead both regulars in sides that gained promotion and look how they worked out. Imo we should have signed an established proven keeper at this level. This guy may be great he might not, but I don’t think we should be risking it in that position.

If a keeper was established & proven he probably wouldn’t be available.

Ryan Boot has spent the last three seasons as Solihull Moors number one in the league below, winning Player of the Season last year, and playing under Tim Flowers who presumably knows a decent goalie when he sees one.

Brown was available when we signed him and he was established and proven, as was chris neal. There are keepers out there who are proven and out of contract. I think we have missed out on our number 1 target personally.

I'm not disputing that. But he was God awful for us. I personally don't care what a player has or hasn't done before he comes to us, nor after. It's what they do when they're in the Vale shirt that counts
