So pre-season starts thursday and no multi signings with the new kit reveal....still there is monday/tuesday/wednesday......only 10 players short of a squad going into pre-season.*

Be interesting if the transfer listed take part in pre-season and just hang around or are told to go train with other clubs and actively look for a move.

*2 keepers/2 fullbacks/2 centrebacks/2 midfielders/2 strikers.

Yawn

Colchester have signed Alan Judge from Ipswich( always thought he was decent, should do well at our level tbf) and also re-signed Nouble again

Really good signing Judge is.  I am only guessing but geography may of played a part in his move. Possibly only 25 miles away. Kids won't have to move school, wifes job etc ?

He should be a good signing.

Considering their struggles last season they have been able to attract a decent standard of players.

It does seem that one or two clubs have found a little bit of money from somewhere unless as i said before they are spending a lot of their budgets on a couple of decent ones,Judge might have the same impact Hoolahan had for Cambridge.

Also notice that Walsall paid a fee yesterday for an Halifax midfielder, thats not me knocking us as i know we paid a fee for Garrity

I imagine a lot of contracts are up at the end of June so a lot of activity 1st July.

I agree but nearly all our signings so far are with the caveat

'They will join on July 1st upon completion of their contract  '

So in effect plenty of deals are done May and June whilst players are still contracted elsewhere.

Yes, not convinced by the 1st July argument. Think it’s more likely to be a case of players DC and DF want taking their time over negotiations to get the best deal. Despite so many players being released because squads will be smaller, the number of quality players in high demand is still going to be relatively limited. So we’re going to have to be patient.

In terms of timing though, next week is going to be critical because the players are back together and there’s nothing better for morale than seeing the squad take shape early on. Especially as we have no goalies!

Tallest players take it in turns between the sticks if no youth goalies available?
