I believe that still stands. I wouldn't be surprised if we see a couple of surprises in terms of players leaving to make room IF we can get players in.

Players under 22 dont count and i think loan players too do not count towards the squad number, although i am not 100% sure on the loan deals.

We've got room for three more senior players (two if Whitehead has been re-registered) without letting any go. See this thread:

Jake Taylor is falling into that well known OVF category where his performances improve the less he plays.
He doesn’t need to be given a chance, he needs to earn it.  Aside from the Liverpool u23 and a couple of show pony 10 minutes with games already won he has shown precious little since returning to us.
This is it in a nutshell. He had a run of reasonable scoring 2 seasons ago and now suddenly he's Zidane?

If he was good enough in training and reserve games then he would be playing.

Correct in fairness the lad was on loan most of last season at a very average Scunthorpe and didn’t start many games

True, but so was Garrity.

struggle to see the desire to get Taylor in based on goals back in 2019, where on the whole our midfield has been the best performing unit of the team.

I'll just remind posters about the high regard Jake Taylor was held by OVF posters during the 19/20 season. Yep it's now 21/22 but the lad can't show what he can do unless he gets a fair chance.

Exactly right… and about time too.

Sproson has, in my opinion, abused his relationship with the club to further his own ambitions.

Snide comments on commentary, pushing the boundaries of his relationships importance to the club, milking every penny he can… maybe he is like that with every club in the land. But it doesn’t feel like it.

Sproson the agent has known for a long time he can use the vale to get some coin… hopefully the new set up holds him to account appropriately.

Totally agree  -he has been very fortunate to have been afforded commentaries in which he can promote the merits of his players! Time for that crap to end!

No - this is the kind of tosh we throw at some of our players! For whatever reason he went to Scuntgorpe - enough to make anyone lose confidence! Then, when he re-joined, he has been up against a midfield that, mostly, overperformed against all our expectations. So, he's now 6th, maybe, competing for 4 places. The fact he has been injured when we would likely have needed him is just sheer bad luck...but you can't say he would now be playing because we don't know how he's been since that injury?

We have tended, in the past, to get rid of players if they weren't immediate gamechangers, which is why some are now flourishing at other clubs. He's definitely a good player - and combined well with Burgess - maybe they need a chance together?

Why would we drop any of our 3 best performers this season in Conlon, Pett and garrity, firstly to bring taylor in, but now burgess as well? Did you watch the game against newport when burgess came on? What an odd suggestion.

Id suggest our midfield is doing just fine the way it is and there is no need to drop our best performers just because we want Taylor to have a game. If he trains well and does well when subbed on then he will earn his place. He’s a good player Taylor, I imagine hes in Clarke’s plans, it’s just not easy to get into that midfield.
