At the risk of drifting off topic, I couldn't resist a chance to post one of my favourite football stories.. The legendary Ali Da who got a contract with Southampton on the back of claiming to be George Weah's cousin... Turned out he wasn't and that he also wasn't much of a footballer either, but he did get to play in the prem (for about 20 minutes) .. So it could happen!!!

EN.WIKIPEDIA.ORG

Also, whilst loosely on the subject of transfers, hopefully, our fantastic recruitment pruhcess will keep us away from the likes of this striker who had a 12 year career wihth 13 clubs without playing a single game

Good job Kaiser had retired before the Bruno Ribiero period. 😆

Saw Ali Día play for Vale reserves before he pulled the Southampton scam!

He later returned to Brazil and started a career as a farce footballer since he "wanted to be a footballer, but did not want to play football"

I'd rather Zac Mills had copied him, rather than actually attempting to play football.

Has there been any reports on when we are likely to see any of our stricken 5 again?

It's not so much goals we need it's a personality that would resonate around the club and give everyone a lift

A man who did just that for us was Lee Hughes.

So for me a short term loan deal ... Bring in the guy whose big personality would fit in great with our ethos ...

Adebayo Akinfenwa

I remember reading about us giving Ali Dia a trial. There was a diary entry in the Green Un about him, either shortly before or after he turned up at Southampton.

As for Roos, he’s a decent ish keeper but he has a bad error in him every now and again. Whenever I see him playing for Derby on the telly he seems quite blasé about playing the ball out from the back and turning over possession in his own third. But that’s modern football for you I suppose.

I agree with his assets, but I still never understood the signing of him.

I understand we can never get 5 even strikers in the building, but when we have Bailey, I don't understand we sign a loan player, almost the same age, with basically the same assets.

For me, Lloyd, Matrix or no Matrix, was a very very very strange signing, and almost seemed a signing, for the sake of a signing, DC having painted himself into a corner, by promising a striker.

I understand all the reasons DC gave for signing him. That he had all the things we were missing in the other strikers. And that all sounded very good and promising. But in real life, you could see it in glimpses, but he very much looked like a youth player, playing the real game for the first time, learning how to use his assets in the "real" game. And why waste that space on another clubs youngster, instead of ie. Bailey?

The guy played a part in Cheltenham's title winning season last season... way more experienced than Eden Bailey so don't agree with the like for like assessment.

I fear this indicates bad news for Amoo’s injury!

The club have changed the players who will be in the club show facing the public whilst signing things.

Dan Jones is an obvious choice because he is banned for 3 games meaning if he caught covid and had to isolate it wouldn’t impact the first team.

If that is the logic (I’m only guessing) then the prognosis for Amoo is that he wouldn’t be back in the next three games either!

Jones is 1 game isn’t it? Only 3 games for violent conduct.

I think it’s a fair assumption that it’s because of the potential of catching covid. We heard Amoo’s was a hamstring injury didnt we? It would be a reasonable guess that it would be minimum of 4 weeks for that anyway.
