I applaud all of you and thank you for supporting the club, so that it was there when I started in the mid 70’s. I can remember the 4-4 against Villa because from my parents house you could hear the roar of the crowd when Vale score

Roy Cross scored a stunning own goal

It was either this game or the one v Bolton, whichever came first that season, which was my first vale game.

First game was 4 1 loss to Liverpool in the league Cup. 1st ever league game was vale 3 Wrexham 0 vale scored 3 goals in 3 minutes.

I remember that game!.. Remember the advertising boards falling over in the paddock when Nicky Cross scored and we all piled to the front.

My first game was v's Norwich in 1989 in the FA cup 3rd round (I think) We lost 3-1.

50 years and a bit of never-ending joy and bliss for me.  First game was a 0 - 1 home defeat to Torquay, in a game which featured two of our future managers. Brian Horton was on his way to becoming a club legend in the proper sense of the word - and as for Torquay's number 9, he just happened to bring the best period I've ever known at the Vale in half a century of watching them.  Think I have a programme with a future England manager with a 100% record in the cupboard somewhere too....

Been 50 years for me though I don’t remember Hopkinson, Wilson or Green.

I just remember it was very cold - 5th December - and the metal on those Lorne Street stanchions was even colder to lean against.  I remember the Park Drive ads in the programme, the swearing at the referee from the old codgers, and a lady who used to stand by the tunnel who was forever shouting out "Come on Brian!" at Horton.  Simpler times.

As I was taken to the Vale by my father from a very early age, I cannot remember going to my first game.

My father died very young so I never thought to ask which game it was. However, my mother said that I first went when I was three or four, so I would have got my first Vale fix in '62 or '63 - ish!

So envious of people who know, and remember, their first match!
