How was that a foul and a card, then a red car for 2 yellows.  This ref is making it all about him and forget about the match.

Come on Vale - can we have the lady ref back.

After today's game, the more we have Ms Welsh refereeing our games, the better. She would be a model for today's excuse for a ref - unobtrusive, lacking in any ego, and focussed on making the right decisions. Hope Uriah Rennie, who was monitoring today's ref, has marked his card.

Grimsby may have been relegated and playing with less pressure on them, however, over the past couple of games, they have started to produce better results.

Not saying Vale should not have beaten them, the Vale should have done.  It came down to Joyce back pass and their player scoring.  It was the typical Vale - failing to take their chances and not scoring.

Next week will be interesting to see who DC puts out in the first 11 and sub bench.

Just listening to P&G and feel the only thing that could be worse to losing today is listening to the lardies complaining about their manager, players and how things are being run at the club.

Fair enough Fosse, but I'm looking at the bigger picture - we can pretend Grimsby aren't all that bad and there were extenuating circumstances, nothing to play for, pressure off etc.  But professional pride is something to play for, as is rewarding our owner who has backed these players with her own money and must be wondering when the real Port Vale will stand up.  Yes, we gave them a head start, but I go back to the point that we very rarely come back from being a goal down when this happens because these players are not good enough as a group.  Some decent ones in there, but a lot of dead wood that needs to be released.  Today we might have not had the run of the green, the pitch was bobbly, the ref was crap, but we still lost to what the table shows is the worst remain the league, regardless of their last 10 games.

They had more pride and the benefit of the ref, and we need better players to challenge next season.

...and it's the pride bit that bugs me - those players should be proud to play in every game. Others on here calling it a dead rubber - I wonder whether Clarke thinks so.

He won't be staying next year. He's put some right timber on. Should of buried the header.

Less said the better but we should have won that.
Tom Pope still shows he can play and be effective at this level.

Spot on. Not surprised Doha hasn't provided a replay of that one. Seems JAs concerns over his lifestyle were bob on. To put that much weight on in 3 months is ridiculous for a professional footballer

If that was an interview for some of the out of contract players, they generally didn’t give a great account of themselves.

Some of them deserve to be playing in non league next year after that. I’m convinced, total squad re-vamp needed.

Wow, Clarke very critical of Montano's discipline.

'Sick of saying it to him. He has a mechanism in his head where he loses his head... I don't like a lack of discipline... He's always struggled with it'

Doesn't bode well for extension prospects.
