the greed league complaining that another greed league is taking their teams .................... funny that

as far as G.Neville goes, you're sinking money into a pub team trying to get them into the championship, so you need to look at yourself first

So are you saying if Carol came into more money from somewhere and invested it into the club/team, you would be opposed to that?

This is why glory hunters (few on here) are killing the game. Without the millions of plastic fans then this super league wouldn't be viable. Liverpool fans from Stoke, United fans from Burslem etc ha

I don't see it that way. Like them or loathe them, Salford have not broken any rules. To say that the likes of Salford shouldn't be allowed to progress up the pyramid is a bit precious - if we only al

Even more of a weapon are people that get so emotional and butt hurt about someone supporting clubs not even in the same league as Port Vale and feeling like they're some sort of judge and executioner. The fact you admit you're actually sickened, despite the other things going on in the world right now, I can only think you don't have much if anything in life beyond Port Vale football club.

Console yourself with whatever you want Beech, you’re not Vale and never will be in the eyes of thousands. Peculiar, peculiar little manchild.

I completely agree with the last bit/ I just don't get this hatred for the Premier League when it's what every football league club with any ambition is aiming to be long-term, Port Vale included. And if anyone is happy to just exist in the lower leagues than they need to give their heads a wobble.

At the end of the day football club's are a business that provide entertainment.

What thousands? You speak for yourself and a minority only, Mr. Port Vale. If Vale ever go out of business in these crazy times, or drop out of the football league which is more of a possibility, then God help you.

Im astonished that you dont get the hatred bit - small clubs like us have been squeezed over the years as the funds were diverted to the rich clubs. Im not sure i'd ever want us in the Prem as it can kill clubs like ours - just look at Bradford, Swindon, Portsmouth, Oldham etc...... none have fully recovered from their time in the top flight

Port Vale are a business. Do you think Carol isn't also in it to try and make money during her stint as Chairwoman?! Her heart is in the right place, much more so than other owners, that's clear. But she's a businesswoman at the end of day, no matter what you try and tell yourself.

Well yeah, you can obviously hand pick certain clubs if you wish to. But there's plenty that have benefited from the money that comes from playing in our top flight. Ask Carol if she wants to see Vale play Premier League football while she owns the club if it was a possibility - You would have to have a screw loose to think that she would say anything else other than yes.

If people are genuinely happy with Vale playing football in League Two and wish us to stay there, then my God, what a mentality.

Presumably, as this seems to be based on the American football model, teams will change locations and names

So if Arsenal decamp to Brazil, they could be the Rio Gunners

Points-with-Bone

Yes,they don't do promotion and relegation in the USA.

They'll be moving Man.Utd,Liverpool and Arsenal to different locations next?😃

But clubs still have a go, will Brentford make it ? Extra promotion places to replace the Greedy expelled?

Again Carol asked to go on Jeremy Vine and talk about this.  Port Vale in the forefront again.  She talks a lot of sense and said those owners are not thinking about the fans, just the money they can make from it.

Yes a club are run to make money for the owners, but without the fans then there wont be money going in to the club.  Just the select club owners who want to make more money and are not bothered what happens to the other clubs.

I don't see it that way. Like them or loathe them, Salford have not broken any rules. To say that the likes of Salford shouldn't be allowed to progress up the pyramid is a bit precious - if we only allow "established" clubs then at a lower level we would be making the same sort of ring fenced league the top six are trying to do.

Salford have splashed cash and gone through managers but there's nothing in the current rules to prevent that. What the top six are doing is circumnavigating the rules and creating their own League so they can ignore things like big clubs getting relegated if they perform badly and little clubs rising to the top if they are run well.

Because football is a sport. Port Vale is a football club. Some people act like it's the only thing they have in the world and that it's far more important than it actually is, or should be. As long as someone is giving money to said club, why would it matter to anyone that isn't a pure helmet that others might also support a club that's not local to them as long as they have a genuine reason other than glory hunting?

Looks like the government could introduce legislation to stop it happening. There's going to be a statement at 5pm.

Interesting point from The Guardian:

George Davidson emails in an interesting thought: “National government may have limited formal powers to stop any super league. But local government may have more, stronger and long forgotten powers. Football Clubs use the name of their towns and cities with the permission of the local council. If Liverpool Council decides it no longer wants Liverpool FC to bear its name, then they could withdraw that right. The club could still exist and play in the new ESL but call itself something else (Red Mersey?) but they could no longer call itself Liverpool. That would be an utterly extraordinary move but maybe even the threat would be something.”
