Rumour Manny off to Chesterfield ?

Isn’t it nice though that people on here aren’t confused, angry and arguing with each other due to the sheer madness of a club decision. In the past that would have been par for the course. This on the face of it looks like shrewd football business and is a deal primarily in our own best interests. Hope fully just a glimpse of what supporting a professionally run club will look like for years to come.

Ah, the VNL Paulo Maldini if some fans comments on here when his contract was expiring are to be believed

Nesta at the moment, Maldini if they go up.

It's a difficult one for me. Love Manny and what he brings to the team, but we just can't carry players that can't play 30 games a season minimum.

Big shoes to fill quality wise. Really excited to see who DC/DF have in there sights.

A fit Manny would walk into any midfield in this division. Unfortunately it has been proved, you dont get a fit Manny for enough of a season. Despite it been stated for the last few seasons that we will have more quality and less quantity yet again we have done the  complete opposite. These extra numbers have allowed us to include and carry players like Manny.  Looks like the restriction on squad numbers might actually make us go for quality over quantity this Summer.

Am completely sure that Vale will lose last five games without Manny. No confidence in midfield
Cheer up mate, it's not that bad.

We've got nothing to play for in the next 5 games, time to figure out who's going to be here next year and who isn't. We've spent 3 years playing without Manny for most of it, we will survive.

One man doesn't make a team. Great midfielder yes but other players around him also deserve the credit for the recent run.

I've missed the last couple of games due to work so can't comment but thought Conlon had really stepped up again recently.

Hard one for me as when fit he’s one of our better players .But 16 games a season given the wage he is paid  is a poor return  for the club  investment. So it logical to get rid and move on . Sad top bloke and player

If you look at minutes played he did 14 games this season and 4 the season before. If he's on a couple of grand a week thats 10k a game he's good but not that good. This will be the issue with Pope as well he's working out about 15k a game or 50k a goal this year and this will be the kind of cost to benefit ratios that we will be looking at now we are doing things in the correct manner.

Sad because Manny gives us undoubted quality and strength in midfield.

His injury record makes him far too big a risk.

I do think we'll struggle for the final few games without him but DF and DC clearly have a more reliable replacement in mind.

The first of many to leave over the coming couple of months. Pleased we got a fee for him, even if it was only small.
